How To Fix Samsung Galaxy A6 Is Not Fast Charging

Problem: Hi I have a Samsung Galaxy A6. Charger cannot fast charge anymore whilst USB and PC cannot connect to A6. I have tried every solution in this website i.e. “…. not connecting to PC” , “… A6 not fast charging”, etc. I already ran a full reset to my s8 and yet still no results. I’ve used a pin needle to very gently clean out any dust etc in my phone’s charging port as well. I’ve been to the settings ( developer and *#0808#) to try and fix any MTP related issues and still nothing. The notification that pops up when I try and connect a flash drive is ” connector connected and connector disconnected”. These notifications alternate between each other even when the flash drive is disconnected entirely the notifications persist until I restart my phone. Really need your help.

Solution: Before performing any troubleshooting steps its best to make sure that the phone is running on the latest software version. If an update is available then make sure to download and install it in your phone.

From the way you described the problem it’s very likely that this is already caused by a defective charging port. You should however eliminate the other factors that can cause this problem by performing the steps listed below.

Clean the charging port of the phone

The presence of dirt or debris in the phone charging port will usually affect the way the device charger. To eliminate any particles in the charging port you should clean this using a can of compressed air.

Charge the phone using a wall charger

Once the charging port has been cleaned try to charge the phone using its wall charger. If the issue persists then try using a different charging cord and wall charger.

Check if the issue occurs in Safe Mode

There are instances when certain apps you download to the phone can cause issues with its operation. To check if this is the case you will need to start the phone in Safe Mode as only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run in this mode.

  • Make sure that the phone is off.
  • Press and hold the Power key past the screen with the device name.
  • When ‘SAMSUNG’ appears on the screen, release the Power key.
  • Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
  • Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
  • Safe mode will display in the bottom left corner of the screen.
  • Release the Volume down key when you see ‘Safe Mode’.

If the problem does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

Wipe the cache partition of the phone

There are instances when problem can be caused by a corrupt system cached data. To eliminate this possibility then you will have to wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.

  • Turn off the phone.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
  • When the device logo screen displays, release only the Power key.
  • When the Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  • Press the Volume down key several times key to highlight ‘wipe cache partition’.
  • Press the Power key to select.
  • Press the Volume down key to highlight ‘yes’ and press the Power key to select.
  • When the wipe cache partition is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  • Press the Power key to restart the device.

Perform a factory reset

One last troubleshooting step to consider is a factory reset. Take note that if you perform this then your phone data will be deleted in the process.

  • Make sure that the phone is off.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
  • When the device logo screen displays, release only the Power key
  • When the Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  • Press the Volume down key several times key to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset.’
  • Press Power button to select.
  • Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
  • Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  • When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  • Press the Power key to restart the device.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component already. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
