Samsung Galaxy S6 Won’t Charge Anymore Issue & Other Related Problems

Once considered as one of the best smartphones released in the market, the #Samsung #Galaxy #S6 which was released in 2015 set the tone for future flagship models of the South Korean giant. This model uses a glass and metal body ( which is what’s being used by the latest flagship phones of the company). Unlike its predecessor, the phone no longer has a removable battery which is a trade off to its design structure. Overall though this is a very solid phone that is being used by a lot of people today. There are however instances when certain issues can occur on this phone which we will be discussing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S6 won’t charge anymore issue & other related problems.

S6 Won’t Charge Anymore

Problem: My Samsung Galaxy S6 won’t charge anymore. It started 2 days ago where it told me to connect to fast charge even though I’m using the original fast charger that came with the phone. It was charging but excruciatingly slowly – it took 6 hours to charge to 100% and then when I used my phone the battery life was short lived. Today it to an hour to charge from 27% to 33% and now it won’t charge at all. It says it’s charging – red light is on, the lightning bolt is there but it’s not and now the battery has died and it still won’t charge. I’ve tried to clean out lint (there wasn’t any), connected it to a different charger but it doesn’t even recognise that anything is plugged in. Unfortunately for me (and most others I’m sure) I really need my phone so please please help me  Thanks DROID guys!

Solution: If you have already made sure that the charging port of your phone is free from any dirt then the next step is to use a different charging cord. One of the culprits of a phone having charging problems is the cord used since it easily gets broken. If the issue still occurs even after using a different charging cord then proceed with checking if the phone software is causing this problem by backing up your phone data then doing a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check if the issue gets fixed. If it doesn’t then your phone might have a faulty battery or damaged charging port assembly. For this situation I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Won’t Turn On

Problem: My galaxy s6 won’t turn on. I sent a message then went to do something and when I returned (about ten minutes later) the phone was powered off and remains that way with only a red light in the top red corner. The phone was on the charger when it powered off.

Solution: The first thing that you should do in this particular case is to simulate a battery pull. This is done by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Make sure that the phone is not connected to its charger when you perform this procedure. Your phone should restart after this. If the issue persists then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in the port is removed.
  • Charge your phone for at least 20 minutes then turn it on. If the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger.
  • If the phone remains unresponsive then check if it is able to start in recovery mode. From here you will have to do a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.

If the above steps don’t fix the problem then the phone might have faulty battery or power IC. If this is the case then you need to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Shuts Off When Disconnected From Charger

Problem: I have a s6 it charges fine but when i take it off the charger it will work for a bit. Then it freezes and shuts off the tell me battery is critically low. It does this all the time multiple times a day. And two days ago it factory reset itself. I lost everything. HELPPPP!

Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this particular case is to check if a software glitch is causing the problem. To do this you will need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then it’s possible that your phone has a faulty battery. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.

S6 Keeps Restarting Unless Plugged To Charger

Problem: My galaxy s6 keeps restarting all by itself. I have tried factory reseting it but the problem still occurs. Even in safe mode my phone begins to restart over and over until out of batteries. I don’t think something is wrong with the battery but when i plug in my phone it stops restarting itself. What can i do to fix it?

Solution: Since you already performed a factory reset which doesn’t fix the problem then this could already be caused by a faulty battery. You will need to have this checked at a service center.

S6 Stuck In T-Mobile Screen

Problem: following latest updates, my Galaxy S6 gets stuck in the restarting loop. I just did the factory reset but now it doesn’t want to start at all – stuck on the white “t mobile” logo screen.

Solution: It looks like the phone is bricked. What you should do first in this case is to perform a simulated battery pull by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this. If problem persists then you should flash the updated stock firmware file of your phone using Odin. You can download this file from the Sammobile website. The website will also have the instructions on how to flash your phone.

S6 Home And Power Button Not Working After Phone Got Wet

Problem: Hi i dropped my phone down the toilet. It was only in there for a few seconds but the home key and the power key both dont work. I dried it as quick as possible and even placed the bottom half of the phone in a cup of rice over night. They both was working now they have both stopped. It’s only been 24hours since i have done it. I am not sure on my android version. Kind regards

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to place the phone in a bag of rice for at least 48 hours. The rice will absorb the moisture inside the phone. If the issue still occurs after this then you need to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked as it is most likely water damaged already.

S6 Screen Is Black After Phone Got Wet

Problem: Hi! My Samsung Galaxy s6 phone may or may not of been water damaged. It was in it’s basic otterbox and when I woke up, i saw that the top of it had some water on it. I immediately took the phone out and the back of the otterbox where the back of the phone sits, was drenched. And so now it is on, but the screen is completely black. Please help

Solution: Just like the issue which we have addressed above you will need to place the phone in a bag of rice for at least 48 hours. The rice will absorb any moisture that might be present inside the phone. If the problem still occurs after this then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Keeps Rebooting And Freezing

Problem: My version s6 keeps rebooting and freezing I installed the Os fresh last night and it’s still doing it I’m not sure what else to do now.. if I should change the battery or motherboard

Solution: Since flashing the phone with its firmware doesn’t work then this might already be a hardware related issue. The first hardware component to suspect is the battery. Try having the battery replaced first then proceed with checking the other components such as the power IC if the issue still occurs.

  1. My S6 was working fine when I went to bed last night it was plugged in and charging. When I woke up this morning the phone was off and showed zero power. I plugged it into car charger and then it showed 83%. It ran for awhile but the battery drained very quickly. I backed everything up and did a factory reset. The phone now reads 0% battery and will not charge or turn on. Any ideas on what I should be trying next?

  2. Hi, I have been using my S6 for the past two years and have used the same charger over the years. A few hours ago I kept my phone for charging but later when I checked on it, the phone had not charged. I used multiple combinations of chargers, wires and all house wall sockets and none of them did the trick. I tried all of these combinations on another cell phone and it charged. After a few mins of trying the phone gave up and lost all of its charge. When I connected it again to the charger, I noticed the charging symbol but not the battery symbol which comes on the the screen while the phone charging. What should I do?

After the last eat update my s6 edge was fine for a day them after hours only charged to 7 percent after I unplugged checked every thing plugged it back in would only charge to 5 percent then 1 no it won’t charge turn in no thing prior to the update I had not 1 problem ever for 18 months I owned .
