How to Use Samsung Galaxy S9 as a Mobile Hotspot

Using the Samsung Galaxy S9 as a mobile hotspot means that you’re sharing your internet connection with other devices. Your phone should be connected to the Internet via mobile data and there are a few settings you will have to configure so that your Galaxy S9 will start broadcasting like a router and such frequency will be visible to your other devices.

It is important that you know how to do this because there are times when you’re in an area where there is no Wifi hotspot and your Galaxy S9 is the only device that has an internet connection. You should know that you’ll be charged by your provider for using mobile data and depending on your plan, you may also pay extra if you go beyond the monthly cap. How to turn on Mobile Hotspot on your Galaxy S9

To be able to enable mobile hotspot, you have to go into the Settings menu as Google buried it deep since many users have complained about having to accidentally enable it and charged for a fee. So, if I’m not mistaken, starting with Galaxy S5, you really have to go into the Settings menu to enable it. Here’s you do it on your Galaxy S9:

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
  2. Navigate: Settings > Connections > Mobile Hotspot and Tethering.
  3. Tap the Mobile Hotspot switch to turn on. If the switch is blue, it’s already enabled, otherwise, it’s turned off.
  4. If prompted, review the info then tap OK to confirm.

How to configure Mobile Hotspot on Galaxy S9

Most of the time when you enable mobile hotspot, you would be able to connect to the internet immediately but there are also instances wherein you will have to configure it first to use it. Not to mention you would also want to personalize the password of your hotspot. Here’s how it’s done..
