Purchase samsung wireless charger which is poorly designed and uses micro usb cable, another hassle for an avid traveler. Pad chargers slower that use when phone turned on. Noticed possible relation to heat of phone and charging speed, placed dried moisture free ziplock/silicone system in freezer with short live highly positive results using current wired charging system. Fully charged by wire once today now completely unresponsive again, not even moisture detect warning. Wireless system is essentially garbage requiring 3+ hours of phone completely switched off to supposedly gain max charge, I wouldn’t know, after an hour at a time it’s at 15% before I need to use it. I traded in my iphone and ipad to consolidate to a more powerful usb-c system, this is my only lifeline and I’m attached to my bed most of the day gaining 1 % every 5 minutes. I’m furious and stick in the middle of Mexico, I’ve spent over 100 on worthless changing cables for this gd phone. I pressed every combination of reset buttons except hard reset, I don’t have enough charge to reliable save my date without it powering down, and I need things o. Here to survive this nightmare situation. I am tech savvy and have so far regretted owning this pos for 2/5 weeks of ownership. Figure it out

Solution: Your phone is equipped with several protective features that can prevent the device from unwanted damage. One of the protective features protects the phone charging port from corrosion by alerting you of a possible presence of moisture in the port.

If moisture is indeed present in the charging port then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

Remove the water

Gently shake the phone or use a mini vacuum to remove the presence of water in the phone charging port.

Wait for the water to evaporate

Normally, any water present in the charging port of the phone will evaporate within 2 hours. Try waiting for this amount of time then check if the issue still occurs.

In case the charging port is already dry but then the error message still persists then proceed with the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.

Check if the issue occurs in Safe Mode

When the phone operated in Safe Mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. This makes it easier to check if an app you downloaded is causing the problem.

  • Turn the device off.
  • Press and hold the Power key past the model name screen appearing on the screen.
  • When SAMSUNG appears on the screen, release the Power key.
  • Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
  • Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
  • When Safe mode appears in the bottom left corner of the screen, release the Volume down key.

If the problem does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

Try using a different USB charging cord

Sometimes the problem can be caused by a faulty charging cord as this cord gets damaged easily. Get a new charging cord then check if the issue still occurs.

Wipe the cache partition of the phone

The phone usually accumulates a lot of temporary system data which over the course of time can get corrupted. When this happens it can cause issues such as this. To check if this is what’s causing the problem you will need to wipe the cache partition of the phone.

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
  • When the Android logo displays, release all three keys.
  • An ‘Installing system update’ message will show for 30 – 60 seconds before the Android system recovery menu options appear.
  • Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
  • Press Power key to select.
  • Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them and press the Power key to select.
  • When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
  • Press the Power key to restart the device.

Backup your phone data then do a factory reset

One last troubleshooting step to consider is a factory reset. This will revert the phone back to its original factory condition. Take note that since your phone data will be deleted in the process you should make a backup copy first before proceeding with this step.

  • From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
  • Tap Settings > Cloud and accounts > Backup and restore.
  • Tap the following sliders to desired setting:
  • Back up my data
  • Automatic restore
  • Tap the Back key (bottom right) until you reach the main Settings menu.
  • Tap General Management > Reset > Factory data reset.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the screen, then tap RESET > DELETE ALL.
  • If you have screen lock turned on, enter your credentials.
  • If prompted to verify your Samsung account, enter the password, then tap CONFIRM.
  • Wait for the device to reset.

In case the above troubleshooting steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
