This is so terrible considering I paid around $900 for this phone and now it’s acting like a piece of junk. in the future I think I’ll get a more reasonably priced cell phone since these high-end top phones don’t last.
Solution: How long a fully charged battery of the phone lasts is dependent upon several factors such as the signal strength of the network, the number of apps running, and the number of services running on the phone just to name a few. Normally though, the phone battery should last a day. Since the battery of the phone is draining quickly then you should perform the following troubleshooting steps listed below.
Start the phone in Safe Mode
There are instances when an app that you downloaded can cause this particular problem. This usually happens when the said app uses a lot of processing power. To check if this is what’s happening right now try to start the phone in Safe Mode as only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run in this mode.
- With the screen on, press and hold the Power key.
- In the options menu that displays, press and hold Power off.
- When prompted to restart in Safe Mode, tap OK.
- After your device restarts, it displays Safe mode at the bottom of the screen.
If the issue does not occur in this mode then you should find out what app is causing the problem and uninstall it.
Wipe the cache partition of the LG V40 ThinQ
When the phone accumulates a lot of temporary system data this can usually lead to the data being corrupt. This can cause problems with the way the phone works which is why it is a good idea to wipe the cache partition of the phone.
- From the Home screen, tap Settings.
- Tap the ‘General’ tab.
- Tap Storage > Internal storage.
- Wait for menu options to finish calculating.
- Tap Free up space.
- Tap Temporary files & raw files.
- Select the following options: Cached data, Clip tray temporary files, Raw files from camera
- Tap Delete – DELETE.
Factory reset the LG V40 ThinQ
One last troubleshooting step to consider is a factory reset. This will revert the phone back to its original factory condition. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing this procedure.
- Backup data on the internal memory.
- From the Home screen, Settings.
- Tap the ‘General’ tab.
- Tap Restart & reset.
- Tap Factory data reset.
- If desired, tap the Erase SD card checkbox.
- Tap RESET PHONE > Delete all > RESET.
You can also reset the phone using the hardware keys.
- Backup all data on the internal memory.
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the Power and Volume down buttons.
- When the LG logo appears, quickly release and then re-hold the Power button while continuing to hold the Volume down button.
- When the ‘Delete all user data (including LG and carrier apps) and reset all settings’ message appears, use the Volume down button to highlight Yes.
- Press the Power button to reset the device
In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be caused by a faulty hardware component.
