Solution to fix Error Code 492 #1: Refresh the system

Before you perform any proper troubleshooting for this issue, it’s good if you can refresh the system with a reboot. Minor bugs and some app errors can sometimes be fixed by restarting the device. In this troubleshooting guide, you want to make sure that you do this simple solution before you go on doing more advanced steps.

For older Android devices with removable battery packs, restarting them by disconnecting the battery is highly recommended. These applies to phone models that feature batteries that can be removed from the back. If you have such a phone, be sure to remove the battery for at least 10 seconds before you connect it again.

If you happen to have phone models with non-removable battery packs, the best thing to do is to simulate the effects of physically removing the battery. This is usually done by pressing certain button combinations. The steps vary by brand and make so do some extra research on how to do it on your particular device. For instance, newer Samsung Galaxy S and Note models let this happen by pressing and holding the Power + Volume Down buttons for approximately 10 seconds.

Android uses a special set of cache called system cache in order to load apps quickly all the time. Sometimes, this cache, which is stored in the cache partition, may become corrupted. Another effective way to fix error code 492 is by reverting the Google Play Store to its factory state. This is done by clearing the app’s data. Here’s how:

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap Apps.
  3. Tap on More settings at the upper right (three-dot icon).
  4. Select Show system apps.
  5. Find and tap your app.
  6. Tap Storage.
  7. Tap Clear Data button.
