How to fix a Galaxy S9 Plus if its mobile data is not working

Problem: Galaxy S9 Plus mobile data not working

My phone will not connect to data. It says that it has full bars of LTE but wont even load your website when it is away from wifi. I have tried restarting it, pulling out the sim and restarting it, putting it in airplane mode and restarting it, restarting it in safe mode (the problem was still there), and I have reset the access points.

Solution: Causes for this type of issue varies. Aside from the troubleshooting steps that you’ve tried so far, below are the things that want to consider:

Use correct network mode

If set to use a slower network mode such as 2G or 3G, webpages may barely load or won’t open up at all. Make sure to double check if your S9 Plus is set to use LTE or 4G. Here’s how:

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap Connections.
  3. Tap Mobile networks.
  4. Tap Network Mode.
  5. Select the fastest available mode (LTE or 4G).
  6. Restart the phone and check for the problem.

Check APN

Another troubleshooting step that you missed is making sure that Access Point Names are correct. APN settings are carrier-specific so be sure to contact your network operator to ask for the correct one.

Change APN Protocol to iPv4/IPv6

Sometimes, switching from default APN Protocol to iPv4/IPv6 can fix mobile data issues. To see if this will help, try to manually changing APN protocol to iPv4/IPv6. Here’s how:

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap Connections.
  3. Tap Mobile networks.
  4. Tap Access Point Names.
  5. Tap the current APN.
  6. Find APN Protocol and tap it.
  7. Select iPv4/IPv6.
  8. Restart the phone and check for the problem.

Install update

Some network issues can only be fixed by installing carrier updates. If there’s any available software update for your S9 Plus right now, be sure to install it. To check for Android updates:

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap Software update.

Reset network settings

Another troubleshooting step for this case is to delete the current network setup and return the defaults. Here’s how to do that:

  1. Tap to open Settings app.
  2. Go to General management section.
  3. Tap Reset.
  4. Select Reset network settings from the given options.
  5. If prompted, enter your device password or PIN to continue.
  6. Then tap Reset settings to confirm.
