There’s nothing more annoying than getting constant calls from telemarketers trying to sell you something that you don’t need, want, or even want to hear about. Even more so annoying might be friends or family members that are constantly trying to call you at the worst times, such as while you’re at work.
That said, how do you stop these unwanted calls? Is there anyway to stop them from getting through and interrupting your day? Luckily, you have a couple of options available to you. If you follow along below, we’ll show you how you can block a number on your Google Pixel 3 to stop these calls from happening again.
Do Not Call Registry
If you’re just having trouble with telemarketers on your Pixel 3, the best way to block their number is through the federal Do Not Call Registry. This is because a telemarketer can call you from multiple phone numbers. You can block one number, but they’ll just call you with another, sometimes even from a different location (area code) to trip you up. They might even make it appear to be a local number so that you answer. That’s why putting your phone number on the Do Not Call registry is so important. Put your number on there, and telemarketers, by law, won’t be able to call you.
So if you’re ready to get rid of telemarketers once and for all, it’s time to put your number on this registry. The nice thing about this list is that it’s completely free — you don’t have to pay a fee to put your number on it. The nice thing about this list is that you register once, and your number is on there forever. The only time you’ll have to re-register is when or if you change phone numbers.
Getting your Pixel 3’s number on the list is easy. First, on your desktop or mobile, head to www.donotcall.gov. Now, just click the orange button on the main page that says Register Your Phone. Next, click the REGISTER HERE option. Here you can enter three phone numbers you want to submit to the list — this could be your mobile number, a landline, and another phone number. After that, all you’ll need to do is enter your email address. Keep in mind that you cannot register or submit a number to the Do Not Call registry without entering your email address.
Once you’re done entering in those details, press the Submit button. Finally, the FTC sends a confirmation email to your email address with a final confirmation link. Click the link, and then the numbers entered are automatically posted to the registry. After a few hours (the FTC says between 24 and 48, but it’s usually much shorter than that), you should no longer be getting anymore annoying phone calls from telemarketers.
Block a specific number
Blocking a number on the Google Pixel 3 is extremely easy. Just tap the Phone app to open it. In the top right corner of the app, hit the three dot vertical menu next to the microphone icon. From here, head into Settings > Call Blocking. Next, just add the number that you want to block, and press OK.
If you don’t know the number off-hand, you can go through your Call Log list and block numbers that have already called you. All you need to do is tap on that number, and then press the Block button — you could also choose to report the number as spam, if you so choose.
Unblocking a number
You can unblock a number from the Google Pixel 3 essentially the same way that you would block a number. Just open up the Phone app and hit that three-dot menu at the top right corner. Head into Settings > Call Blocking, and then simply look for the number that you want to no longer block. Now, just swipe away the number that you want to free up to call you!
As you can see, blocking a number on the Google Pixel 3 is an easy process. If you’re trying to block a telemarketer, it can be a little more involved. However, whether you’re trying to block telemarketers or individual numbers, we take you step by step through the process. Do you have a favorite way to block numbers you don’t want to talk to?
