5 Best Google Pixel Slate Alternatives In 2018

Google launched the Google Pixel Slate as the next and best generation of Android tablets. It’s packing some insane specifications, and even comes in at a whopping 12.3-inches in size. That does mean it comes with a high price point — a whole $600, actually. That’s cheaper than any iPad Pro, but there’s still a large group of people that have trouble with Google’s offerings, largely because of the search giant’s inability to stick with a line of products and really nail down who the product is for. That said, if you’re not on the Google Pixel Slate bandwagon, be sure to follow along as we show you the best alternatives on the market for the tablet or slate.

Apple iPad Pro

The Apple iPad Pro is first up on our list as an excellent Google Pixel Slate alternative. Apple has always done well with their tablets, offering a crystal clear and snappy tablet experience. They’ve put that same great quality in the large screen Apple iPad Pro, but they’ve also taken things a step further here.

Inside the Apple iPad Pro is a special motion processor that allows you to use the Apple Pencil stylus with it. The Apple Pencil brings all sorts of new functionality to the iPad Pro — better control over drawing, the ability to take handwritten notes easier, manipulate business software, and so much more. It might set you back a pretty penny, but it’s worth it.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S4

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 is next up on our list. You could essentially picture this device as the Galaxy S9, but in a larger tablet form. It runs on Samsung’s Experience software, which brings a lot of extra features to the table for you to use, such as Samsung Health, Samsung Music, Kids Mode, and so much more. It actually comes with its own S-Pen, so there are a lot of S-Pen related apps that come with it as well.

The tablet also has a large, crystal clear display that make it ideal for watching movies and TV shows on. Not only that, but it makes it great for reading books and long form articles, as the text will always stay sharp and easy on the eyes.

Apple iPad

Next up on our list is the traditional Apple iPad. This is a smaller tablet that’s just a little easier to use and transport around. You still get the crystal clear Retina display for watching media like movies and TV shows with great screen quality. Another neat thing about the traditional Apple iPad is that the Cupertino-based company has been able to build it with the secondary motion processor, which means you’ll be able to use your Apple Pencil with this product now as well. This is a great option for those that don’t want to pay the large price of the iPad Pro.

Huawei MediaPad M5 Pro

If you’re just looking for a great Android experience, look no further than the Huawei MediaPad M3 Android tablet. First and foremost, the MediaPad M5 Pro has a beautiful display — you get a whole 10.8-inches of screen real estate, with a detailed resolution of 2,560 x 1,600. And with an 82% screen-to-body ratio, you’ll get a wider view than ever before.

The MediaPad M5 Pro actually has some great processing power inside as well — there’s Huawei’s own Kirin 960 processor, which keeps things running snappy and smoothly. The tablet will be able to handle just about anything you throw at it, including high-end games that might take more processing power than normal.

Battery life is pretty impressive as well — under normal use, you should be able to get a couple days out of a single charge. But, if you’re using it all day, expect to get the same 8 – 10 hours of juice that you’d get out of a laptop.

Surface GO

If you want a slate or tablet that will also double as a Windows 10 laptop, look no further than the Surface GO. The Surface GO has a 10-inch PixelSense display that provides some extraordinary detail. It’s got sharp text, and since it operates off of Windows 10, you can easily use apps like Microsoft Excel, Office, and more. You should be able to play games and other Windows 10-specific apps on it pretty easily as well.
