S8+ Screen Is Black But Can Still Receive Notifications
Problem: Hello! No one from verizon or from my insurance has done anything to help me with this so I have resorted to you guys, please help!! My Galaxy S8+ has a small crack in the bottom right of my phone, the other day it got wet and was working fine after. Then the next day I noticed my phone flickered a green and purple color so I immediately put the phone in rice. Then after this the phone was once again working fine. Hours later the phone screen was completely black. Although the screen is black I am still able to use google assistant, slide to open my phone with my password and receive calls and notifications, but my screen is completely black so all of those this are essentially pointless. I have done every troubleshooting thing possible, holding the volume down and the power button for a minute straight at one point, but all I get is my phone (turning off as it seems, but I can’t tell with my screen being black) and a sequence of vibrations. NO samsung logo or anything. I let my phone die and I recharged it and the led indicator is there, but the screen is still black. Is there anything I can do or am I forced to go through my insurance who literally does not want to help at all? Please help!
Solution: The crack on the screen added by the water that has entered the phone through this crack might have damaged the functionality of the display already. If placing the phone in a bag of rice for at least 48 hours does not fix the problem then it’s either the display assembly of the phone needs to be replaced or a component inside the phone got water damaged. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S8+ Is Not Turning On
Problem: I’ve had a Samsung galaxy S8+ for 4-5 months. I’ve had the a phone for 4 years until this may it got damaged with water. I got a replacement via extended warranty through Asurion and i got this phone. the speaker barely works ever since i got it but that’s beside the point. Last week i went to check my phone randomly and it wouldn’t turn on. I try to do all the button combinations i can for soft rebooting and nothing works. I take it to Verizon the next day and the guy gets it to turn on and the phone says it is dead. I tried charging it beforehand and no indicator that it was charging popped up. I go home and charge it and it works fine until the next morning at around 6:45, my phone is fully charged and just shuts off again. I take it to Verizon again and they can’t do anything. I’ve never had a problem with battery before so can almost guarantee that’s not the issue. I should be getting my second replacement today but now it is just a matter of transferring my data like unsaved photos in my gallery and such. Help.P.S. I’m not sure the version of the phone.
Solution: In order to backup the data stored in the phone the device needs to be turned on. Try doing a soft reset and check if this helps. This is done by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this. In case it doesn’t then proceed with the steps listed below.
- Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air.
- Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using a different charging cord and wall charger. If the phone does not charge then ty charging from a computer USB port.
- Turn on the phone then backup your phone data.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to have the phone checked at a service center.
S8+ Screen Is Black
Problem: I have a galaxy S8+ but the screen is black and for some reason I put it under my pillow and now the whole phone is very hot it is cooling down but I’ve tried to turn it on I’ve checked my SIM card but there was this weird smell like a mint and I can’t take out the battery please I need help I’m on my iPod and I really need my phone back I’ve only had it for a day and I got it from my friends mom
Solution: The first thing you will need to do in this case is to make sure that the phone cools down. When the phone is not hot anymore attempt a soft reset. This is done by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this. In case it doesn’t then connect it to its wall charger and let it charge for at least 20 minutes. If the phone does not charge then try cleaning its charging port using a can of compressed air then use a different charging cord and wall charger to charge the phone. Try turning on the phone after charging it.
In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
