Problem: I set off the latest software update running overnight and when I got up today the phone is completely dead. Charger was plugged in during the update, no lights to indicate that the charger is plugged in. This is an S8 and not even 2 years old. It is completely unresponsive.

  • Connect the phone to a wall charger and let it charge for at least 20 minutes.
  • If the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also check if the phone can charge from a computer USB port

Once the battery has sufficient charge try turning on the phone by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. If the phone does not turn on then try starting the device in recovery mode. From here you will need to do a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data.
