S8+ Fast Battery Drain After Software Update

Problem: Ever since I downloaded the newest software update, my phones battery life has drained fast. Excuse my French. 100% at 11:30am and it is now 2:00pm and my battery is at 63%. The battery saving mode is a joke. It actually used to last all day and night before the update, but now it doesn’t at all. And it takes even longer to charge. I want to uninstall the update but I don’t know how to other than doing a factory reset, and if I do a factory reset, I feel like it will just install the newest update again. This seriously bothers me so much!! Please help.

Solution: I some cases when the phone undergoes a software update the battery will drain faster than usual as the device is rebuilding its cache. This will take a couple of hours before the battery usage will normalize. There’s also the possibility that your apps are not optimized to work with the new software version. If this is what’s causing the problem then you should open the Google Play Store app then update your apps that have pending updates available.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then proceed with the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S8+ Turning On And Off

Problem: My phone all of a sudden started turning off and on even when plugged in.  I have wiped the cache and taken all of the the non factory supplied apps off the phone and done a factory reset.  I am not sure what else to do. Could the battery be faulty? If so….the back of the phone does not come off (or that I can see) to replace it.  Your help is greatly appreciated. The phone works fine when I am actually using it or scrolling the internet.

Solution: If you have already done a factory reset and the issue still occurs then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component already. The best thing you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S8+ Only Turns On When Connected To Charger

Problem: My phone when power on won’t display beyond Samsung Galaxy S8+. This happens repeatedly; off and on. My phone only comes on when it’s connected to a charger, when it’s removed my phone won’t still display beyond Samsung Galaxy logo. My phone only comes on for a short while, when it is switched to ultra battery saving mode while connected to a charger but doesn’t last long. In fact, when a call comes in it goes off and repeatedly off and on display samsung logo. Please help

Solution: It’s very likely that the problem is caused by a faulty battery already. You can still try to check if a software glitch is causing the problem by starting the phone in recovery mode. From here you should do a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data. Once the reset is complete restart the phone then check if the issue still occurs. In case it does then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it repaired.

S8+ Freezes On Black Screen Once Idle

Problem: Galaxy s8+ freezes on black screen once idle for a few minutes. Will not power off or on, will not come out of idle, black screen, frozen, keyboard dark but flashes if light will appear on the screen and keyboard as I attempt to unlock. Will only unfreeze if I do a soft reset.

Solution: The best thing you can do right now is to check if the problem is caused by a software glitch. Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. If the issue still occurs after the reset then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component already. The best thing you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
