J7 Freezes With Black Screen

Problem: Hi, I have a Samsung Galaxy J7 that is approximately a year old. This phone has worked admirably throughout this time until 3 or 4 days ago. I began to experience the phone freezing in a variety of places and occasionally it would freeze with a black screen showing a red light to the top left of the phone face. I would of course have to remove the battery when this happens. Researching the issue, it was recommended that a factory reset be done, and so I have done this. The freezing has largely subsided but I continue to get periodic black screen. Is it possible that this is a firmware issue? What are your thoughts? Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Solution: If the problem still occurs after a factory reset has been made then it’s possible that this is caused by a bug in the phone firmware. Try waiting for a new update to arrive on your phone then update the phone accordingly. If the issue still occurs even with a new update then proceed with the following steps.

  • Remove the microSD card of the phone if you have one installed.
  • Backup your phone data.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Perform a factory reset in recovery mode.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this might already be a hardware related problem in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

J7 Stuck In Samsung Logo After Factory Reset

Problem: I factory reseted my device. Prior to the reset it was fully working. When it attempted to restrict after the reset it was stuck on the Samsung logo screen and doesn’t go past that. I’ve took it into a mobile repair shop and they’ve said only Samsung can repair it as it’s not a software issue. Any help would be appreciated thanks

Solution: For this particular problem you should remove the microSD card of the phone if you have one installed. Start the phone in recovery mode then wipe the cache partition of the device and follow this up with a factory reset. If the issue still persists then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component on which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

J7 Not Starting After Falling To Ground

Problem: my phone is a Samsung  J7 – phone was in an phone case – fell off belt .  Was completely drained . Left on charger for 2 hrs- did not indicate any progress in charging.  Attempted hard reboot { volume up , power , home buttons } Does not progress past recovery boot

Solution: To fix this problem try cleaning the charging port of the phone first using a can of compressed air. Once this is done charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also check if the phone can charge from a computer USB port.

Once the battery has sufficient charge try turning on the phone by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds.

If the phone still does not turn on then there’s a possibility that this is caused by a faulty hardware component that got damaged by the drop. You will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.

J7 Not Turning On

Problem: My Samsung J7 has switched off and is not turning back on I have tried charging it for 2 hours but it shows no lights no signs I have tried the power button and volume button still doesn’t work

Solution: Try cleaning the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Once the port is clean try charging the phone using a different charging cord and wall charger. If the phone  still remains unresponsive then this is most likely a hardware related problem already in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
