J3 Not Connecting To Wi-Fi Network
Problem: I have a J3. Bought it about 8 months ago. I was able to use internet and phone and text through my wifi at home. Didn’t buy a plan to let me use internet and phone away from home for several months. But I was using the phone from home through the wifi. Now, I can’t do it and I’m being told that this phone is not wifi compatible! They can’t tell me why I was able to use it before, but I could. Can you help me? Is there a workaround for this?
Solution: The first thing you need to do in this case is to make sure that the Wi-Fi switch of the phone is turned on.
- From the home screen, tap Apps.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Wi-Fi.
- Tap the Wi-Fi switch to On.
- Tap the required wireless network.
- If prompted, enter the Wi-Fi password, then tap CONNECT.
If the Wi-Fi switch does not turn on the you will need to backup your phone data and do a factory reset. If after the reset the issue persists then the Wi-Fi chip of the phone is defective and can only be repaired at a service center.
If you are able to turn on the Wi-Fi switch and it connects to a Wi-Fi network but then you are unable to go online then try forgetting the network from your phone then connect to it again. You should also try connecting the phone to a different Wi-Fi network. In case the issue persists then try doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
J3 Keeps On Disconnecting From Wi-Fi Network
Problem: Hello I have a Samsung J3 and it keeps disconnecting from wifi I have done soft reset and factory reset 3 times it works for 2 weeks and still disconnecting after I followed all the steps on your post for wifi disconnecting I did everything and still disconnecting any suggestions, I will appreciate thank you.
Solution: Since you have already performed a factory reset then the best thing you can do right now is to check if the problem occurs when the phone is connected to a different Wi-Fi network. If the problem does not occur then you should check your router settings. In case the issue still persists then this might already be caused by a faulty hardware component. You will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
J3 Connected To Wi-Fi But No Internet
Problem: My Samsung Galaxy J3 says it is connected to the wi-fi but will not actually load anything! Chrome, Samsung Internet, Gmail, Yahoo mail, Accuweather have all tried but to no avail. I have done a ‘soft reset’ – nothing changes. I have cleared cache, history etc as best I can with all apps. – nothing changes. Other devices within the home are all connecting and loading ok including my husband’s J3. Was all working 12 hours ago but not now. Help please?!?!
Related Problem: Having wifi issues its saying connected but yet will not open email and some other programs, I have done the checklist from your article including uninstalling 3rd party apps including filelinked. I’m to the factory reset option which I’m holding off on til the last. If my data is on no problem at all, but if not and only wifi then email etc. doesn’t open. Appreciate any advice, holding off on reset because of photos and some other stuff not backed up yet.
Solution: To fix this problem try forgetting the Wi-Fi network from your phone then connect to it again. If the issue still occurs then try starting the phone in Safe Mode. If you are able to go inline when the phone is started in this mode then you might have downloaded an app that is causing this problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. In case the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then proceed with the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Connect your phone to a different Wi-Fi network then check if the problem occurs. If it doesn’t then the issue might be caused by your router settings.
- Try wiping the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
