LG G6 Apps Close Automatically After Software Update
Problem: Hello, after the LG G6 has updated, all my apps will close automatically. i.e. google maps will close from full screen to small window, keyboard will just close, playing again it will reset in the middle. I’ve researched a little and found outdated forums stating to uninstall the android system webview. When under developer mode, the webview implementation has the android system webview unable to be click but Chrome is clicked and highlighted.. I can only assume at that point chrome is controlling that. When I go in the app store and attempt to find the app, there isn’t an option to uninstall or disable. because chrome is a LG G6 installed app, it will not allow me to fully uninstall it but it will let me uninstall updates and disable it. I did that, then enabled it without updating it and it work for about an hour and started closing this down again. I have factory reset my phone twice thinking that would fix it, but it just comes back. I have taking the SD card out thinking something could be on that causing the issue and it still does it. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Solution: If you have already performed a factory reset and the issue still occurs then there’s a possibility that the problem is caused by the update itself or a faulty hardware component. The additional troubleshooting steps that you need to do before bringing the phone to a service center are as follows.
- Update your phone apps by opening the Google Play Store then checking the My Apps section for any updates.
- Try wiping the cache partition of the phone then do a factory reset in recovery mode. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing this step.
LG G6 Not Recognized By Computer After Software Update
Problem: Hi all, My LG G6 updated to the newest software version 7.0. It now will not recognise my phone when i use the usb data cable on my computer. I just got android auto installed on my new car and because of this update, my phone will not work with the car either. I followed all your advise on the previous forums, bought the new genuine cables, sadly to no avail. I just really do not want to do a reset. Is there any way around this. Thank you for all your help and easy to follow instructions. kind regards
Solution: The first thing you will need to do in this case is to make sure that the charging port of the phone is free from any dirt or debris. If necessary clean this port using a can of compressed air. Check if the phone can now be detected by your computer. If it still can’t then backup your phone data and do a factory reset. This way you can check if a software glitch is causing the problem.
In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
LG G6 Failed To Update Firmware
Problem: Hi, I am on Android 7.0 and my work is forcing me to go to Android 8. I have gone to the Setting screen and downloaded updates manually. Which download a file. Once downloaded it ask me if I want to install this upgrade to which I say yes. The phone then closes down and starts to reboot itself. On reboot the Android icon appears and start to install it get to about 30% then error appears on the screen and continues with the reboot process. On starting the phone it eventually gives a message \”Fail to update firmware\”. Accept the error and I can use the phone again. Any ideas?
Solution: If the phone fails to install the software update then the best thing that you can do right now is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete immediately download the update again then install it in your device.
LG G6 Apps Have Stopped Working
Problem: I have an LG G6 and it’s never been ‘spot on’. I keep having problems with the memory although I have a memory card – so I cant use my camera etc. I also have messages saying that apps have stopped and ‘facebook has stopped’ amongst other programmes. I have been to Vodafone and LG and neither wanted to know. I am really fed up now and am now contemplating on getting a new phone, but was just wondering anything can be done before I do this?
Solution: This problem is usually caused by a software glitch. Since the issue affects several apps then the best thing you can do right now is to backup your phone data then start the phone in recovery mode. From here wipe the cache partition of the phone then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete the problem should disappear.
