Samsung Chromebook Pro Vs. ASUS Chromebook Flip C302 Best Chromebook Comparison Review

Chromebooks are great laptops. They’re largely Internet-based, meaning using the browser and a suite of Google Apps (as well as Android apps now), is all you can do. This means you don’t need nearly as demanding hardware, allowing you to get these laptops for cheap all while picking up something with supreme portability.

Right now, two of the best Chromebooks on the market are the Samsung Chromebook Pro and the ASUS Chromebook Flip C302. They’re the best money can buy right now, sitting around $400 to $500. They’re similar in a lot of ways, making it a little difficult to figure out which one you should pick up. We go through the pros and cons of both to help you make an informed buying decision. Follow along below.

Samsung Chromebook Pro

The Samsung Chromebook Pro has one of the best displays for a Chromebook — it comes in at 12.3-inches with a resolution of 2400×1600. With it, you get an aspect ratio of 3:2. It comes with 4GB of built-in memory as well as 32GB of onboard SSD storage. If you want to expand the storage, you can do so through the included microSD slot.

You also get a Intel Core M3 Processor 6Y30 (Samsung offers a model with its own supplied processor as well), which means the Samsung Chromebook Pro is going to be able to handle even the most demanding Android apps available for the laptop.

The screen is unique part of this Chromebook, as it’s on a 360-degree hinge. This allows you to setup the Chromebook in almost any way you would want — you could even transform it into a tablet-like experience. The laptop itself is very light, allowing you to easily travel with it, whether that be to college classes, back and forth to work and so on.

A Samsung Chromebook Pro will run you around $400.

ASUS Chromebook Flip C302

On the other hand, we have a similar Chromebook to the Samsung option called the ASUS Chromebook Flip (the C302 model). This model has a slightly larger 12.5-inch Full HD screen with a resolution of 1,920×1,080. Similar to the Samsung, you get 4GB of RAM, but 64GB of SSD memory that can be expanded by way of a microSD card.

For the processing setup, ASUS offered a Intel Core M3 processor clocked at 2.2GHz. Similar to the Samsung, this powerful processor will be able to keep up with even some of the most demanding Android apps on the market.

Also similar to the Samsung is the unique 360-degree screen. You can transform it in a variety of ways to fit it to your needs, whether that be turning into a tablet, or having it propped up on the table or your bedside.

Similar to the Samsung Chromebook Pro, you can pick up a Chromebook Flip C302 by ASUS for around $400.

So, which one should you get? Both have similar processing packages and are priced around the same. This can make it hard to choose between the two since they’re both similar, but the differences primarily lie in the displays.

Samsung in the Chromebook Pro offers an extremely high quality display — it comes in at 12.3-inches, but has a Quad HD screen at a resolution of 2,400×1,600. You’re going to get a crisp and clear image of this, making the Chromebook Pro perfect for almost anything — watching media, going over and editing pictures, etc.

In contrast, the ASUS Chromebook Flip has a slightly larger 12.5-inch display. It’s considerably worse as far as specs go, unfortunately. You get a whole extra .2-inches of screen real estate, but you only get Full HD technology and a meager and standard resolution of 1,920×1,080. Media doensn’t look nearly as great as it does on the Quad HD screen of the Chromebook Pro. That said, the Samsung Chromebook Pro can be chosen alone based off of sheer screen quality. The Chromebook Flip by ASUS certainly isn’t a bad choice. In fact, the screen isn’t bad at all — but you do get more for your money in the Samsung Chromebook Pro.

There are, of course, some notable design differences as well, which might sell you on the ASUS Chromebook Flip. ASUS in their model worked hard to make the Chromebook Flip look and feel like a MacBook Pro, and it does. Samsung tried to do something similar, but the Chromebook Flip definitely takes the cake their.

So, here’s your determination: if you want better technology, the Samsung Chromebook Pro is the way to go. If you’d prefer a more premium design and slightly worse hardware, the ASUS Chromebook Flip is your choice.
