S9 Moisture Detected Error After Getting Wet
Problem: Hi there! I have a Galaxy S9 that I dropped in a toilet over a month ago. It only was submerged for 1 second, and I dried it out and it worked just fine and has never given me a problem since. Fast forward a month later, and my phone is giving me the “moisture detected” error even though the phone is completely dry. I have tried all of the steps you suggested, including booting in safe mode, cache partition and factory reset, all to no avail. Do you have any other suggestions? I find it hard to believe a brief submersion over a month ago could cause this out of the blue, and I really don’t want to have to pay a deductible to get a new phone.
Solution: If the charging port of the phone is completely dry already but the problem persists then this might already be caused by a software glitch. Several other owners of this phone have been experiencing this issue right after they got a software update. To fix this you will have to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. If after the reset the problem still persists then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S9 Is Not Charging
Problem: Good Evening. While driving home 8/26/18, my S9 died at 6% battery life. When i got home, I immediately put my phone on the charger, but when i plugged it in, it was unresponsive, (didn’t vibrate or show red light, or charging icon on screen). I’ve purchased a new charger and cord, but that hasn’t produced any different results. I tried to bring up the soft / hard reset menu by holding down the volume and power button, and nothing happens. I’ve cleaned the power button with rubbing alcohol and my phone still will not turn on. I even cleaned the charging port, charged the phone, and still the same result. Can you please help me?
Solution: Since you have already performed most of the troubleshooting steps that needs to be done for this particular issue and still the issue persists then it’s likely that this is already caused by a faulty hardware component. You can try to check if the phone can charge from a computer USB port. If it charges then one of the pins of the charging port assembly of the phone is damaged. If the phone only charges using a wireless charger then the charging port assembly itself is damaged.
In case the phone refuses to charge or turn on then you will need to bring this to a service center and have it checked.
S9 Battery Drains Fast
Problem: So I have a galaxy s9, and only have had it for about a month now. My battery dies really fast throughout the day I could use it for 10 min at 100 then the battery will drop down to around 70 or below 60 percent sometimes. Also for some reason I can never fully get my phone to turn off, I turn off the auto on screen thing, but my screen will still turn on and never really go to black screen. I can try to turn it off, then it will flash back on without any notifications or anything.
Solution: The best thing you can do right now is to check if an app you downloaded is causing the problem. To do this just start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
In case the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then you will have to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This allows you to check if the problem is caused by a system glitch.
If the battery still drains fast after the reset then your phone might have a faulty battery. You will have to bring this to a service center and have it checked.
S9 Takes Too Long To Charge After Software Update
Problem: hi just updated my wifes s9 to the latest software version and right after the update she started go have charging issues…charger reported it will take 5 to 6 hours to charge. I’ve tried multiple chargers and cables, all say the same. I’ve tried restarted, wiping cache and now factory reset but still have the charging issue. any other ideas?
Solution: Since you have already tried using different cables and wall chargers and even performed a factory reset which does not fix the problem then this might already be caused by a faulty hardware component. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
