S9+ Crashes When Streaming Videos
Problem: I have a S9 plus which was bought from Samsung Germany. Whenever I am watching a movie from my NAS it seems to suddenly crash after 15-20 minutes of playback. I tested with a different router and the issue still persists. Everything functions flawlessly with my wife’s S7 Edge though which leads me to believe its a phone related issue instead of being something wrong with my network. I’ve tried two apps VLC and Mxplayer (Pro and normal) and the issue happens with both apps. It doesn’t happen if I play from local storage
Solution: Try to verify further if this is a network related issue by checking if the issue occurs when playing a YouTube video. If the crash still happens then you should consider checking your router settings. In case the video does not crash then the problem is most likely on the phone side. Below are the recommended troubleshooting steps that you need to do. After performing each step immediately check if the issue still occurs. If it does then proceed to the next step on the list.
- Forget the Wi-Fi network from your phone. Restart both the phone and the router then connect to the Wi-Fi network again. Try playing a video from your NAS.
- Check if the issue occurs when the phone is started in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t occur the this might be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S9+ Cannot Access Unsecured Wi-Fi Login Page
Problem: I cannot connect to my works Wi-Fi login page; 126.96.36.199 It takes me to a page where it wants me to install 188.8.131.52. however when I first received my phone I was able to connect to the Wi-Fi until an update stopped allowing Google Chrome to access the website as it was ‘unsecure’ and wouldn’t allow me to progress through to the login page even though I know its a secure page. I downloaded another search engine to allow me to connect to Wi-Fi which was working fine yesterday (11/08/18) and all of a sudden today (12/08/18) it won’t take me to the login page. I assume its to do with an update, so how do I stop auto update of my search engines and revert back to the previous version. Any help would be appreciated.
Solution: The first thing that you should do in this case is to make sure that the time and date of your phone is correctly set. Try updating the time and date of the phone by getting these values from the network automatically.
- From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
- Tap Settings – General management – Date and time.
- Tap the Automatic date and time slider to turn on
If the problem still occurs then try clearing the cache and data of the browser apps from the application manager.
You should also check if an app you installed is causing the problem ( especially a software security app) by starting the phone in Safe Mode. If the issue does not occur in this mode then you will have to find out what app is causing the problem and uninstall it.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should consider doing a factory reset as this might be caused by a software glitch. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
S9+ Slow Loading Of Online Apps
Problem: I have a samsung galaxy S9+ . I have had it for almost a month and up until a day ago it was working fine. Yesterday it started to become slow. It won’t load any of my apps. Even when I’m connected to wifi, even when I’m connected to my mobile data. The apps will open normally but it will not say there are any connection problems. My phone will only really work and show me my app notifications when it is connected to the charger. When it is not connected to the charger it shows that there is a problem connecting properly to my wifi and it will show both icons for wifi and mobile data.
Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode then check if the issue still occurs. In case it does then you will have to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
