S8 Camera Failed Error After Camera Replacement

Problem: Hi, my rear camera got scratched and replaced it with and new one. I can’t get the rear camera to work. The message “camera failed” appears every time. I have tried all your suggestions. Also bought another new camera and reinstalled it several times and nothing. When I put the old camera it works without any problems. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Solution: The best thing you can do right now is to check if a software glitch is causing the problem by doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. If after the reset the problem persists the this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component possibly due to the replacement camera. You should have this checked at a service center.

S8 Camera Pictures Covered In Rainbow Stripes

Problem: Droid guy, need your help.  I received a Samsung Galaxy S8 through a company purchase (we upgraded).  The phone that i received is having a lot of issues. Our tech guy wiped clean the phone and did a system reset before giving me the phone. There are two annoying issues.  The first is that the base camera app is “glitchy”. when taking a selfie, the picture is covered about 1/5 of the photo in a rainbow-stripe, going from top to bottom. It occurs on every selfie taken, in slightly different spots, but always covering about 1/5 of the photo from top to bottom, kind of like it is crossing the screen when the photo is taken.  It is not there when taking the photo, but appears afterward. I don’t know how to get rid of it. To add, when taking normal photos, they turn out OK, but when viewing them as multiple “thumbnails” they have various pixelated white stripes on them (horizontal and vertical). When you click on them, they stripes go away. The second issue is that when using the basic texting app, they phone freezes and resets.  It usually happens before i can type a sentence. It is constant with the base app or Verizon texting. I downloaded the Textra app, and it works fine. however, sometimes when using Facebook or other apps, the phone again freezes when i am typing. I have done many resets, but not a “hard reset” yet. I think that may be my next step. I have not read much about the issues i am having, so this may be unique?! I can send a few examples of the selfie issue.

Solution: Does your phone have a screen protector installed? If it does then remove this then wipe with a microfiber cloth the spot where the front camera is located. Once this is done check if the problem still occurs. If it does then the next step is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. If after the reset the same camera problem occurs then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component already which can only be fixed at a service center.

Regarding the issue of the phone freezing when using apps this will most likely be resolved by the factory reset.

S8 Camera Fail Error

Problem: My 8 month old S8 with no damage has a “Camera Fail” error message when choosing the camera app Icon.  It is stuck in “selfie” mode and unusable. However, the camera works fine with any/all other apps that connect with the camera, i.e. text attachment, photo compass, etc. I have tried the cache delete, force stop and soft reset.  I am not ready to do a full factory reset until I have explored “ALL” options since the camera does at time function. Any help and/or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. Regards

Solution: Since you have already exhausted all other software related troubleshooting steps  then the only thing you can do now before performing a factory reset is to check if the problem occurs in Safe Mode. In case it doesn’t then the problem is most likely caused by an app you downloaded. If it still occurs even in Safe Mode then you should definitely proceed with the factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
