Note 5 Battery Drains Fast Since Last Software Update
Problem: I have VERIZON note 5, it was replaced last November under warranty so the battery and the phone is not that old since it was replaced with a refurbished device. Since it updated 2 days ago, the battery life and charging is almost non existent. No matter what charger I use it will say anywhere from 6 hrs to 61 hrs to fully charge. It keeps flashing “USB connected” then “USB disconnected”, even when no charger is attached sometimes. I’ve tried my fast chargers, Samsung authorized chargers, etc. Same result with all chargers, even wireless charging.. The phone will drop battery percentage within minutes. Will power off, then when I plug a charger in and turn it on it will say 18 to 30 percent battery, yet it went to 1 percent and shut down 1 to 2 minutes ago. Yes I’ve checked battery settings, even in power saving mode it is acting like this. All since the update earlier in the week.
Solution: The best thing to do right now to eliminate the possibility of the problem being caused by a software glitch is to backup your phone then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try checking first if the issue still occurs. If it does then proceed with the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air.
- Try using a different charging cord and wall charger to charge the phone.
- Try using a wireless charger.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this might be caused by a faulty hardware component, The best thing you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
Note 5 Not Charging After Getting Wet
Problem: I spilt coke cola on my friend’s galaxy Note 5 back in May and since then he’s had trouble with charging his phone. Today he’s not been able to recharge his phone so currently he’s switched it off altogether. He’s tried the troubleshooting scenarios but to no avail. Is there anything else he can do without losing treasured photos etc on his phone?
Solution: There’s a possibility that some Coke residue is present in the charging port of the phone which is causing this problem. What you should do right now is to clean the charging port of the phone by wiping it with a moist tissue ( use alcohol to moisten the tissue). Follow this up by cleaning the charging port with a can of compressed air. Once this is done try using different charging cords and wall chargers to charge the phone.
If the issue persists then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
Note 5 Will Not Charge
Problem: my phone will not charge. tried different cables does not work. tried outlet doesn’t work even though my laptop is plugged into it and working fine. did everything on here and it doesn’t work. I turn it off and plug it in and it doesn’t charge but died at 1% I plugged it in and it said 12% when it turned on. don’t know my software that you asked because I cannot see it on my phone.
Related Problem: Phone was working completely fine. At night I turned on internet and hot spot was on. Battery was gradually declined and drained completely. On morning I plug in charger both usb as well charger and try to switch on but phone not responded . Tried all troubleshooting but it didn’t start. Service centre guy only told it may be hardware problem Not satisfied with service guy. If after only one year and 6 month all investment gone in vain then why anyone would buy Samsung products.
Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port. Once this is done check if the phone will now charge. If it doesn’t then try using a different charging cord and wall charger.
If the issue persists then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it repaired as this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component, possibly the battery.
