LG V20 Went Blank After Playing Game
Problem: Hello, I just posted this on your facebook page. Wasn’t sure if it was better to email it, so here it is as well. Any advice/help highly appreciated. Most important to me is to get the info off the phone/back it up, and secondly is to see if I can flash it or hard reset or whatever to try to get it working again. Thank you so much in advance!! I’m at a loss. Google’d and watched some YouTube videos without a solution. I have an LG V20. In good shape, been using it for a couple years now, never any issues. Several days ago I downloaded Empires and Puzzles (a game from the app store, highly rated, no mention of issues in the comments before I downloaded it). Been playing it quite a bit for several days without issue. Was playing it tonight, battery at about 60%, and the phone went blank. I tried holding the power button to turn it back on, nothing happened. I tried removing and reinstalling the battery and this did nothing either. Plugging it into 2 different chargers had no effect. Went to Google, read some things. Removed battery, held power button for a few seconds to completely drain phone, reinstalled battery, held power button and I get the opening loading screen from LG for a few seconds, but it goes no further than that. This is where I am stuck. I’ve read about a Factory or hard reset, but I have not been diligent with backing up my phone, so contacts, texts, pictures, probably most importantly my calendar events such as dr appointments and whatnot, are all stored on the phone and I don’t want to have them wiped off. As I was searching for answers and typing this with the phone on the desk beside me, I noticed that it eventually goes back to the LG powered by Android opening/loading screen every once in awhile before going black again. I don’t know if it is continually restarting or what.
Solution: The best troubleshooting step that you can do right now without affecting your phone data is to get a new battery and replace the one that you are using on the phone as this might already be faulty and is causing the problem.
In case the issue still persists then in order for you to save your phone data you will need to have the phone checked at a service center. If the problem is caused by a faulty hardware component then this can be replaced. If it’s a software related problem then the phone might need to be factory reset or flashed. This will however delete your phone data.
LG V20 Not Turning On After Display Replacement
Problem: So, I changed the battery on my V20.. it turned on and charged slower than normal. Before the battery change, it wouldn’t turn on, nor would the small indicator light. So, I sent it off to get the screen fixed. It came back and it wouldn’t turn on again.. I’ve tried everything.. nothing works.. everything is black.. do you know what this might be? I’m assuming the PMIC is fine, since it would take a charge when the battery was replaced. It won’t turn on.. Idk what the issue might be, I even tried a wireless charger, nothing. I would appreciate your help.
Solution: It’s very likely that some component inside the phone has been damaged or affected by the display replacement. Before bringing the phone to a service center for checking try the following troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Remove the battery and microSD card of the phone.
- Reinsert the battery then clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Charge the phone using a wall charger for at least 20 minutes.
- Turn on the phone.
In case the issue persists then have this checked at a service center.
LG V20 Not Turning On After Getting Wet
Problem: Phone got wet, not submerged. Appeared to be responding but LCD screen was giving multi colors (think of channel not coming incorrectly on tv). Was turned off and dried. Phone says it is charging and at 100%, however, when unplugged, it does not respond to any button commands. I’ve tried the various button combinations when plugged to the charger but it has never rebooted or turned on, only shows the battery at 100%.
Solution: The best thing to do right now is to remove the battery, microSD card and SIM card of the phone. Wipe the device with a microfiber cloth until it is dry. You should then place the phone in a bag of rice for at least 48 hours. The rice will absorb the moisture inside the phone. Once this is done try to check if the phone will not turn on. If it still doesn’t then the device is most likely water damaged. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
LG V20 Not Turning On After Charging
Problem: My phone died when I was on a flight home from vacation. Went down to 0% and shut off, so when I arrived home I put it on the charger and the lightning symbol inside the circle came on so I assumed that it started charging and went to bed. I woke up and my phone will not turn on at all no charging symbol, LED lights, nothing. I went to the store they tried soft resetting and also tried recovery mode to no avail. It seems like when I press down my power button it is not giving the same pressure feeling as usual so I don’t know if that’s an issue. Essentially I was told I would need a new phone and that I am SOL because I got my phone over a year ago with no insurance. What can I do?
Solution: You can try cleaning the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air then use a different charging cord and wall charger to charge the phone. Check if the phone turns on after charging for 20 minutes. If it doesn’t then you should try replacing the battery with a new one.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this could already be caused by a faulty hardware component. I suggest that you have this checked at a service center.
