How to take a screenshot on your new Samsung Galaxy Note 9?

Learn how to take a screenshot on your Samsung Galaxy Note 9 using Palm Swipe, key combination and more…

There would always come a time wherein you will need to take a screenshot of something. If you’re one of the owners of the new Samsung Galaxy Note 9, you have more than one option on how to capture a certain screen.

Taking a screenshot is supposed to be easy and accessible. Samsung made sure the process of capturing your screen will be fast and easy. So, continue reading below as this tutorial will be able to help you.

Take screenshot on Note 9 using Palm Swipe method

For me, this is the easiest way to take a screenshot on your Galaxy Note 9 as you just have to swipe your hand to the left or right across the screen to activate it. This method is activated by default so your new smartphone can capture out of the box using Palm Swipe.

For those who are new to Android or using a Galaxy device, this is how you do it:

  1. Open the screen you want to capture.
  2. Position your hand vertically along the left or right edge of the screen.
  3. Make sure your hand touches the screen lightly and then swipe across the screen to activate screenshot.
  4. The screen will flash and you’ll see the screenshot briefly on the screen.
  5. If you want to view it, open Gallery and it should be under the Screenshot section.

If your new phone doesn’t take a screenshot, make sure you’re doing it correctly or go to Settings > Advanced features to check if “Palm swipe to capture” is enabled. If you’re trying to take a screenshot of a certain screen in an app, it’s possible that the palm swipe won’t work for that app. You may verify this by using other apps and take screenshots using the same method and if everything works, then it should be an issue with the app. Don’t worry, you still have other options.

Take screenshot on Note 9 using a key combination

This is the next screenshot method on the Note 9 you may want to try if the palm swipe method doesn’t work. It’s a bit complicated to do compared to the first one because you need to simultaneously press a couple of keys to take a screenshot of the content you want to capture. Nevertheless, it’s doable and you should also learn how to do it:

  1. Go to the screen you want to capture.
  2. Simultaneously press and hold the volume down button and the power key for 2 seconds.
  3. The screen will flash and you’ll see the screenshot briefly on the screen.
  4. If you want to view it, open Gallery and it should be under the Screenshot section.

These two procedures alone are enough to capture content you want to take a screenshot of. They are the most used method but if you want to know more about other methods, well, continue reading below.

Other Methods to Take a Screenshot on Galaxy Note 9

Depending on how easy it is for you to do the following, choose one that will work best for you…

  • Use Google Assistant – you can actually use this method by pressing and holding the Home button to launch the Assistant. You can then command it to take a screenshot by voice or by typing. The advantage of this method compared with others is that the status bar icons as well as the navigation bar will be hidden.
  • Use Bixby – I know that not everyone is impressed with Samsung’s AI assistant but you know, it’s good in following commands for system tasks including taking a screenshot. To do this, hold the Bixby button and then ask the AI (with your voice) to take a screenshot of what’s currently on the screen. As always, screenshots will be viewed using Gallery.
  • Scroll Capture – regardless of the method you use to take a screenshot, after capturing a set of options will be briefly displayed at the bottom of the screen and one of those options is “scroll capture.” This feature will come in handy if you want to take a screenshot of more than one screen. Your phone will automatically scroll down and capture every screen and merge those shots into one long screenshot.
