Network or signal issues can be due to network outage, software errors, invalid settings, bad SIM card or worst, hardware damage on the phone. To rule out software-related triggers, I’ve enumerated some simple procedures to troubleshoot the problem.
These workarounds are particularly applicable to a Huawei Mate 10 Pro smartphone that keeps losing signal, or getting a No service error. While these are only generic solutions, many people have found remedy from doing so. Read on to find out what to do, should you encounter the same issue on the same device.

How to troubleshoot Huawei Mate 10 Pro that keeps losing signal
Before you troubleshoot your device, make sure you are using your device in a place that’s within your network coverage. The signal may become unstable if it’s weak or when you’re too far away from the network tower. If possible, try to move to an area where the signal strength is stronger.
Also check and ensure that your device software is up-to-date. You can manually check for any pending software update to download and install on your Huawei Mate 10 Pro. Otherwise, continue to troubleshoot your phone with these subsequent solutions.
First solution: Reboot/soft reset.
A soft reset effectively clears minor software errors that might have caused the network connection to become unstable. If you haven’t restarted your phone yet, then follow these steps to do so:
- Press the Power button for a few seconds or until the menu options appear.
- Select Power off option and then tap OK. Doing so will shut down your phone.
- After 30 seconds, press the Power button again until your device restarts.
A soft reset or restart won’t affect any data saved on the internal memory. It also clears errant cached files and refresh the phone system for better and smoother performance.
Second solution: Reset network settings on your phone.
Network errors from invalid settings configuration can also trigger the same issue to occur on your device. This usually happens when a faulty software is installed. Some firmware versions are programmed to automatically override current settings on your phone, which may therefore cause network conflicts and adverse symptoms. To clear this out, follow these steps to reset network settings and restore the default network options and settings on your phone:
- Tap Settings from the main Apps screen.
- Scroll to and tap Advanced Settings.
- Scroll to and tap select Backup & Reset option.
- Then select Network settings reset.
- Tap Network settings reset again to confirm.
Allow your device to finish the network settings reset and when it’s done, configure individual network options according to your preferences.
Third solution: Boot into safe mode and diagnose apps.
Errant apps can also affect network functions of the phone. If the phone started to have intermittent or on and off signal after downloading an app, then that’s likely the culprit. To determine if the problem is inflicted by a third-party app or not, try to boot your Huawei Mate 10 Pro into safe mode and then see if the error still occurs. Here’s how to enable safe mode on your device:
- Turn off your phone by pressing the Power button until it shuts down.
- Then press the Power button again to turn it back on.
- As soon as you see the Huawei animation screen, press and hold the Volume Down button until your phone boots up.
You should then see a Safe Mode label on the bottom leftmost corner of the screen. If the problem doesn’t occur while running in safe mode, then you will need to determine which from your downloaded apps is the culprit. Try to think of which app you installed recently before the onset of the problem. Or you may have to consider deleting apps individually, starting from your most recent download. If the problem persists while in safe mode, then it’s likely a hardware issue. In this case, you may opt to take your device to a service center immediately or try other advanced solutions to deal with more complicated system issues on the phone.
Fourth solution: Wipe cache partition on your phone.
Wiping the cache partition clears temporary system data that are stored as cache on the phone’s cache partition. This won’t affect any saved data on the internal memory, thus won’t delete your personal information. If you wish to give it a try, then follow these steps to wipe cache partition on your Huawei Mate 10 Pro smartphone:
- Turn off your phone.
- Press and hold the Power button and the Volume Up button simultaneously for a few seconds.
- When you see the Huawei logo, release both buttons. You will then be routed to the EMUI or Android Recovery menu with a few options to choose from.
- Press the Volume Down button to scroll to and highlight Wipe cache partition from the given options.
- Then press the Power button to confirm selection.
- Wait until your device is done wiping the cache partition and once it’s done, the Reboot system now option will be highlighted.
- Press the Power button to confirm and reboot your phone.
Wiping the cache partition is highly recommended to deal with network connectivity issues transpiring after installing a software update.
Fifth solution: Restore your phone to its factory settings (master reset).
As your last resort, you can carry out a factory data reset or master reset on your Huawei Mate 10 Pro. This will wipe everything from your phone system including any complex glitches, bugs and malware that might have caused the network to become erratic and unstable. Should you wish to continue, be sure to back up all critical information you saved on the internal memory as they will also be deleted in the process. Then follow these steps:
- Tap Settings from the Main menu.
- Scroll to and tap Advanced settings.
- Scroll to then tap to select Backup & Reset option.
- Tap Factory data reset to continue.
- Then tap Reset phone twice to confirm.
Allow your device to reboot automatically after the reset. Then you can proceed with the initial setup process. Your device should then be running clean as new by then.
If the No service error still occurs after performing a master reset, then you’re most likely dealing with a hardware issue. This means the need for service.
You can also try to remove and reseat the SIM card on your device. It’s possible that the SIM card is dislodged and so it doesn’t have a secured contact with the SIM card circuit. Before you remove the SIM card, be sure to power off your device to prevent causing any damage. Also check and ensure that the SIM card has no visible signs of damage.
Contact your network service provider or carrier to report the issue for further assistance and suggestions. Also ask them to check their outage system for you to ensure that network services in your area are active.
