S9+ Will Not Stay Connected to Wi-Fi Network After Software Update
Problem: I did the latest software update on July 5 and now my phone (S9+) will not stay on wifi and keeps reverting back to 4g. I have tried turning off and restarting and a soft reboot. I cannot afford to operate my phone solely on 4g. I understand this problem is universal to most who performed this update. I am wondering what Samsung is doing to fix this issue and how long is it going to take. I am a loyal Samsung customer but find this glitch unacceptable.
Solution: If this issue is caused by a bug in the software then it will most likely be patched in another update which should be released soon. In the meantime you can check if another factor is causing this problem by performing the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Forget the Wi-Fi network from your phone. Do a soft reset then connect to your Wi-Fi network again.
- Try checking if the same issue occurs when you connect your phone to a different Wi-Fi network. If it does not occur then the problem could be caused by an issue with your router.
- Check if the issue occurs when the phone is started in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S9+ Can’t Send Or Receive Multimedia Messages
Problem: My mom’s galaxy S9+ is unlocked from her previous carrier (Verizon) and brought it over to T-Mobile. Ever since she has not been able to send or receive multimedia text messages. We did something, reset the network settings, and even mimicked the APN settings from my galaxy s8 active from T-Mobile and now her phone won’t connect to the network data or send/ receive multimedia text messages. Please help! She’s older and not very open to a new phone because of price and technological advancements.
Solution: If the phone has an active mobile data subscription and the mobile data switch is turned on then this issue is most likely caused by a wrong APN setting.
Make sure that the APN setting of the phone are as follows:

S9+ No Mobile Network Signal
Problem: My network has gone out for hours here and there but Soft or hard resets would resolve the issue. My network has been out since Sunday 7/1/18 and as of 7/6/18 still no network. Went into a Sprint store to get it fixed and was told my Sim card tray was damaged after they replaced the my old SIM card. Sprint told the only way to fix it was to use my insurance ($275 deductible for a new phone SMH), I ordered a new Sim card tray and still the Sim card would not read. I’ve tried every single troubleshooting procedure that can be found. If you could help me and save me money it would be appreciated.
Solution: You should try removing the SIM card from your phone then insert a different SIM. This way you will be able to check if the problem is caused by a defective SIM card. You should also try to manually select your network form the phone settings.
- Go to the Start Screen
- Tap Settings
- Tap Connections
- Tap Mobile Networks
- Choose Network Operators
- Tap Search Now
- Your phone should be searching for available networks
- Tap on your carrier network
One last troubleshooting step that you can do is a factory reset. This allows you to check if a software glitch is causing the problem. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
