S9 Keeps Turning Off Randomly

Problem: Hi. Samsung s9 device. The phone keeps knocking off randomly. When it is on charge it is fine but as soon as i take it off and start walking about with movement it just goes straight off. Sometimes off charge it stays on for 5 minutes but eventually will turn off. Is this a battery issue or programme malfunction?

Solution: What you should do first in this case is to check if an app you downloaded is causing the problem. To do this just start the phone in Safe Mode. When the phone works in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run making it easier to check if a downloaded app is causing the problem. If the issue does not occur in this mode then you will need to find out what app is causing the problem then do a factory reset.

If the issue still occurs in Safe Mode then the next step is to check if a software glitch is causing the problem. To do this you will have to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. In case it does then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component, possibly the power IC. You will need to bring this phone to a service center and have it checked.

S9 Does Not Turn On After Software Update

Problem: Received update notification which downloaded automatically. After the download the phone shut down to reboot. The phone never turned back on, just went to a black screen. I have seen suggestions to press the power and volume down or up buttons simultaneously, that does not work. The phone was purchased a few weeks ago, Everything was fine until the software update. Please advise. I was hoping this phone would last more than 2 years.

Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this case is to make sure that  the battery of the phone has sufficient charge. Connect the phone to a wall charger then let it charge for at least 20 minutes. In case the phone does not charge then you will have to clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air then use a different charging cord and wall charger to charge the phone. You should also check if the phone can charge from a computer USB port or from a wireless charger. Once the phone has sufficient charge try turning on the device by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to have the phone checked at a service center.

S9 Battery Drains Quickly

Problem: Hi i have had my samsung galaxy S9 for nearly two months, and it has worked great but lately  its battery has been having some issues. It can charge normally (use fast charger), but whenever i use it, its battery is drained very quickly, and sometimes it can use 20% in less than 20 minutes, and when i use some apps, it gets very hot in certain parts, mainly its right side. I took to the store to have it fixed, and they did a full reset. And when i came home the battery was just as bad before, and they claimed that the battery was just fine. what should i do? it has all the recent updates etc.

Solution: If a factory reset does not fix the problem then this is most likely a hardware related problem already. Does your phone have a microSD card installed? If it does then try removing this as this might be causing the problem. You should have the phone checked at a service center as this issue most likely caused by a faulty battery.

S9 Only Charges If It Is Off

Problem: So glad I found this site it’s been very informative and helpful however I’m having a bit of a problem charging my phone still.

– It will only charge when turned off.

– I cannot use my phone at all when it’s being charged because the battery keeps dropping lower even though its plugged into the charger.

– I always plug my phone in to charge overnight but now all of a sudden I keep waking up to it being at only 10% or lower even  though it was plugged in charging all night. Any suggestions?

Solution: If the phone only charges when it is off then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component possibly the power IC. You can try using a different charging cord and wall charger to charge the phone. If the problem persists then you should try doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. In case this does not fix the problem then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
