Solved Samsung Galaxy S8 Will Not Charge Unless Cord Is Bent

The #Samsung #Galaxy S8 is last year’s flagship model that introduced the Infinity Display feature. This just means that most of the front part of the phone is occupied by the 5.8 inch Super AMOLED display. This is made possible since the phone no longer has a physical home button. Although this is a solid performing phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S8 will not charge unless cord is bent issue and other related problems.

S8 Will Not Charge Unless Cord Is Bent

Problem: Hello. I have a Galaxy S8 which I have had for  a year. One day it did not charge even though it said it was charging and recognize being plugged in. Even when powered down it would drain about a percent an hour . One phone shops said it sounds like software. Another said it is definitely my my charging port (although they seemed kind of shady) . I finally plugged it into my pc like this page said and it finally charged slowly. At about 70% I turned the device on and it updated from both AT&T and Android took about 20 mins while plugged in. When I checked the batter it said 57% and now will not charge above that. I have air dusted the charging port and cleaned it but now it does not recognize a power source unless it’s bent all stupid a certain way. It’s been two months of dealing with this and idk what else to do. Please halp.

Solution: If the charging cord has to be bent in a special way before the phone can charge then the problem can be caused by a faulty charging cord or charging port. What you should do first in this case is to clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air making sure that any dirt or debris stuck in it is removed. Once this is done try using a different charging cord to charge the phone.

If the above step fails to fix the problem then it’s very likely that the charging port assembly of the phone is damaged. You need to have this checked and possibly replaced at a service center.

S8 Moisture Detected Error

Problem: Hi there, I have been having issues with my Samsung Galaxy S8. Yesterday I had gone for a walk, left my phone in my pocket, and when it was a couple hours later, it said moisture had been detected in the phone and to check my usb port and charging cable. This morning, as I was tossing and turning, my phone kept on vibrating and displaying the same message again. It then went to a factory upgrade with a green screen and said it was downloading and to “not turn off the target”. Once my battery died because it was on low battery, I tried charging it again and it has been charging again without any issues. Do you know what could be going on or any solutions for this? Thank you so much in advance for your help!

Solution: It’s likely that the phone has detected the presence of moisture in the charging port which is why you are unable to charge the device. Since this moisture will usually just evaporate naturally then the phone will be able to charge again after a day.

There’s also the possibility that the issue is caused by a software glitch and when the device turned off due to a low battery the problem got fixed.

S8 Charges On And Off

Problem: Hey, I’ve been using an S8 for quite a while and all was well when one day I woke up to see that my phone hadn’t charged which it usually does, I put it on charge and left for a while and realized after a while that my phone was charging at one instant and the other second it wasn’t and then it was again like someone was turning the button on and off I changed my charging cable and the adapter and it was fine but after a few days it’s now again doing the same thing also it discharges sometimes when I use it while on charge and heats up every time I charge and during the on and off situation it also discharges, looking forward to your reply. Thanks.

Solution: The problem is most likely caused by a faulty charger or charging port. What you should do first in this case is to clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Once this is done try using a different charging cord and wall charger to charge the phone. If the problem still occurs then you might need to have the charging port replaced. I suggest that you bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
