S8 Does Not Charge When Screen Is Off
Problem: I replaced the battery in my Galaxy S8 yesterday, the phone powered up fine and is working fine. I’ve just noticed now it doesn’t charge at all with the screen off. It just shows that it’s charging and it really isn’t, but as long as I’m using the phone or have it laying there with the screen on and charging. The battery percentage goes up. Please help!
Solution: The first thing you will need to do in this case is to eliminate the possibility of the charger causing this problem. Clean the charging port of the phone then use a different charging cord and wall charger to charge your phone. If the issue still occurs then the next step is to check if this is caused by a software glitch. You will need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try checking if the phone charges normally.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem and since this occured right after you replaced the phone battery then there’s a possibility that this battery is faulty. The best thing to do right now is to have the phone checked at a service center.
S8 Screen Goes Black When Playing A Video
Problem: Hello, I have a Galaxy S8 that has been working fine since the Android Oreo update. What has been happening is that if I’m watching a video for instance, The screen will go completely black but the video will continue playing and everything else works. This happens when the phone is at 50-60% and sometimes at 70 to 80%. The pressure sensitive home button works but when this happens and a video is playing the audio begins to become distorted. This is very weird and the only way to get it to work again is to force restart the phone and even after its restarting the percentage of battery is still at like 80% but when you unplug the device it happens again. Any fixes? i really would love to have this device for a while longer and its warranty ended June 20th.
Solution: There’s a possibility that this is caused by a software glitch. To fix this problem try starting the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. In case the issue occurs in Safe Mode then proceed with the steps listed below.
- Backup your phone data.
- Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
- Perform a factory reset.
S8 Shuts Down After Watching Video Not Turning Back On
Problem: Hey I have the S8 last week I was watching Netflix on my phone and suddenly the phone froze and shut down The phone didn’t had any problems before So i tried to turn it back on and nothing But I can get into fastboot mode but when I try getting into recovery mode I see the Samsung logo and then it turns off
Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this case is to make sure that the battery has sufficient charge by following the steps listed below.
- Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air.
- Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using a wall charger.
- If the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You can also try using charging the phone from a computer USB port.
Once the phone has sufficient charge try doing a soft reset. This is done by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds.
If the issue persists then try doing a factory reset in recovery mode. Take note that this will erase your phone data.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be caused by a faulty hardware component.
S8 Is Unresponsive After Drop
Problem: I dropped my Samsung S8 on the bathroom floor and the screen went black. I noticed that a blue light was glowing top left of device. I performed all the reboots and tests I could find with no success , the blue light is still glowing but phone is not responsive.
Solution: A component inside your phone has most likely been damaged by the drop. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
