Galaxy Note 5 Wi-Fi Connection Randomly Gets Disconnected
Problem: Dear Android Guy, I’m currently facing some problems on my 3 years old Samsung Note 5, no branded, European warranty. I got a new battery which bought mid January 2018. The problems I’m facing are related to Wifi, no data connection they disappear. After few minutes (5-10) of social media use (instagram is the worst, but also FaceBook, WhatsApp) the internet connection drops: the wifi icon has 2 arrows and instead of being lit at the same time, when this happens, only once at a time is lit (switching among them), or none. if I open Internet, sometimes it works slowly, others it has the same connection problem. To get connection i have to close all the apps and try again, but many times i need to do this process several times. This problem has been going on even before this battery, but it got worse and worst. Another big problem is that if i leave wifi activated, and walk away from the source, as soon as it disconnect the phone freeze for 5-10 minutes. Same thing happens when i walk into a known wifi range connection, and the phones tries to connect automatically. For this as well, it has been going on for the past year and a half (not only with this battery). I also noticed that with both problems the phones gets quite hot, but it might also be just an impression since we have 35c/95f degrees. the Soft reset seemed to work for 15 minutes, but then same thing. Under 50% battery level the problem seems more present. Resetting the network settings didn’t help. Wifi always on during sleep is active. last summer i also tried to do a full reset and recover from backup, but nothing changed. Should i just reset and no recover from backup? get a new battery (no the problems appear on each old battery)? trash it and get something new? do you have any other suggestion? i thought about a different rom, but i have the business email and I can not risk any security problem. Solution: You should definitely try doing a factory reset without restoring your data. Don’t install any apps in your phone yet when checking if the issue still occurs. You should also try connecting your phone to a different Wi-Fi network to eliminate the possibility that the router your phone is connecting to is causing the problem.
In case the issue persists then there’s a possibility that the problem is caused by a faulty hardware component, possibly the Wi-Fi chip. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.
Galaxy Note 5 Internet Not Available Error
Problem: Hi there, I’ve had Samsung devices for a number of years now and have always had an issue with my phone connecting to wifi consistently. On a lot of wifi networks I get the notice “Internet may not be available” with a little exclamation mark next to the wifi bars. I’ve been having this problem for years and have tried a number of fixes recommended on the Internet but am yet to find anything that works.
Related Problem: Initially, I thought I had a problem with the syncing of my google mailboxes. Mails were not dropping on the phone. I kept having to refresh the mailbox manually before mails will drop.I followed your directions and wiped the cache, issue persisted.I then noticed that the issue was not with my mailbox alone. Tweets don’t drop, skype pings are very irregular and same with Whatsapp. Sometimes I see no internet notice in my skype thread page while fully connected to wifi. The issue is same either on my work wifi or at home. Same with my mobile data. Please note that I do not have same problem in my previous phone with same wifis and mobile data network. Also, the syncing of mails is inconsistent. Sometimes even after manually refreshing my mailbox some new mails still fail to drop. However, I do not have such a problem with SMS messages.
Solution: If this problem occurs even when trying to connect your phone to different Wi-Fi networks then you should first try checking if an app you installed is causing the problem. To do this just start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If the issue occurs in Safe Mode then proceed with the steps listed below.
- Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try checking if the issue still occurs.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
