S9 Shuts Down Randomly After Latest Oreo Update
Problem: After the latest 1 Oreo 8.1 update the device shuts down randomly, even after a factory reset the problem isn’t solved. When device is on 3G it has no issues as soon as I switch to 4G it starts to restart. On 3g it is just working fine.
Solution: If a factory reset fails to fix the problem then this is most likely caused by a bug in the update. You can try switching SIM cards then check if the issue occurs with a new SIM card installed in your phone. Make sure to check the APN settings of your phone and make sure that it is correct.
If the issue still persists then you should try to check if another new update is available and make sure to update your phone accordingly.
S9 Not Fully Charging
Problem: Hello. My S9 cell phone JUST began giving me problems charging. I had it plugged in all night long and when I awoke it was at 43%. For the last two days, the highest I’ve gotten it is in the 50’s or 60’s. I’ve deleted game apps (had like three, candy crush was the newest but grandson has had that app on my phone for two weeks. This issue JUST started this week.
I’ve also cleared the cache, and at one point after going through all of the apps, it stayed on “cleaning”. I had to restart phone. I’ve eliminated apps I’m not using. It still will only stay at 42%.
Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this case is to check if the charger is causing the problem. Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air then try charging the phone using a different charging cord and wall charger. In case the phone still does not fully charge then perform the steps listed below.
- Check if the phone will fully charge when the phone is started in Safe Mode. if it does then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- If the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset. After the reset try to charge your phone again.
If the above steps fail to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S9 Fast Battery Drain
Problem: Hello, I have a Samsung Galaxy S9. I am having a lot of issues with the battery of my phone. I wake up at 7 am or 8 am at 100% charge. Then by 10/11 am is down to 30% or something. And I have to charge it at least twice a day. Probably more than that. Sometimes I do not even use it much and the battery goes down. I keep the brightness down as much as I can, I turn data off when I do not use it, I turn apps off, I just deleted a lot of unused apps, I have disabled some apps, but the battery is just bad I guess. I try the little tricks, but I need to try something else. I have had the phone for about 2 months. For now, I am looking for a way to prolong the battery life. Any suggestions? I have thought about taking it to a cell phone repair place to get the battery replaced. Would that be beneficial? Any help would be appreciated!
Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this case is to check if an app you installed is causing the problem. Remove the microSD card of the phone ( if you have one installed) then start the phone in Safe Mode. If the problem does not occur in this mode then it’s very likely that an app is the culprit. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
In case the issue persists even in Safe Mode then you will have to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs.
In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then this is most likely caused by a faulty battery. If the phone is still under warranty then you can bring it back to the store where you purchased it. You can also opt to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S9 Restarts When Connected To Charger
Problem: My phone Samsung S9 just recently started to restart itself over and over but only when I plug it in to charge..I tried wipe cache partition, safe mode still does it any other suggestions other than the dreaded master reset?
Solution: Try cleaning the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air then use a different charging cord and wall charger to charge the phone. If the issue persists then you should consider doing a factory reset. Just make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
