The #Samsung #Galaxy #S8 is the first flagship phone of the South Korean giant that ditched the physical home button. The 5.8 inch Super AMOLED display now occupies most of the front part of the phone. The device uses the Snapdragon 835 / Exynos 8895 processor combined with 4GB of RAM to provide a smooth user experience. Although this is a solid performing phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S8 will not fast charge issue and other related problems.
S8 Will Not Fast Charge
Problem: 3 days ago, my phone wouldn’t charge due to moisture in the charging port, but the port or cable wasn’t wet. The next day, after turning the phone off overnight, it charged on my black fast charging plug and cable that came with the phone, but it stopped sometime during the night. Now my phone wont charge at all on the black charger, and only cable charges on my old note 5 fast charger. I tried my wife’s black fast charger that came with her S8 and it wont charge at all. It will cable charge, not fast charge, on every other charger I try except the new black fast chargers. I’ve soft reset, booted in safe mode, and reset the settings and app preferences. I’m reluctant to factory reset it just yet. Any ideas?
Solution: If you were previously getting the moisture detected error prior to the issue happening then this is where we will start our troubleshooting. Make sure that the charging port of the phone is completely dry. If necessary use a mini vacuum or an air dryer to remove any presence of moisture in the port. Once this is done clean the charging port using a can of compressed air.
Try charging the phone then check if it fast charges. If it doesn’t then you will have to consider doing a factory reset to eliminate any possibility of this issue being caused by a software glitch. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this might be caused by a damaged pin in the charging port of the phone. If this is the case then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S8 Not Turning On After Phone Run Out Of Charge During Factory Reset
Problem: Help. I reset a Samsung S8 to factory settings, before I got to do the restart options the phone ran out of charge. Now it will not charge the battery or restart. Tried to do recovery mode and safe mode which didn’t work. I could get the rebooting recovery in blue at top left of screen but it never actually booted. When connecting the charger at first I get the battery screen, then it’s like the phone is trying to turn itself on and the Samsung Galaxy S8 powered by android screen flashes on and off.
Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this case is to make sure that the phone battery has sufficient charge. Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Once this is done charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using a wall charger. If the phone does not charge then try charging it from a computer USB port. If you have a wireless charger then you can use this as well.
Once the battery has sufficient charge turn on the phone by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. If the phone does not turn on then start the phone in recovery mode then proceed with the steps listed below.
- Wipe the cache partition of the phone.
- Perform a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S8 Stuck On Black Screen With Samsung Logo
Problem: My S8 powered down last night and was struggling to charge throughout the day. It also for the last few weeks has been glitching and freezing in instagram and on occasion would boot me out of the internet and just go to home screen. After it shut down around midnight last, when I went to bed, I plugged it in. Throughout the night it would make the welcome chime and the Samsung logo would appear but just stay on the black screen with the logo. Then about 10 min later repeat that. I’ve tried the soft reset and the factory reset. Holding down the volume down and power keys but it does nothing.
Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air then use a different charging cord and wall charger to charge the phone for at least 20 minutes. With the phone still connected to the charger try turning it on. In case it does not turn on then the problem might already be caused by a faulty hardware component. You need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
