Solved Samsung Galaxy S8 Shuts Off When Not In Use After Software Update

The #Samsung #Galaxy #S8 is one of the best Android smartphone models released last year. Aside from performing quite well even when using demanding apps ( due to its use of a Snapdragon 835 / Exynos 8895 processor) the device can also capture excellent quality photos even in low lighting conditions. A lot of people who own this phone don’t have any major complaints with it. Although this is a solid performing phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S8 shuts off when not in use after software update issue and other related problems.

S8 Shuts Off When Not In Use After Software Update

Problem: My phone started resetting when not in use. After an update this morning, it now randomly shuts off when not in use. I’ve lost 3 months of pictures and videos due to this. Included in those videos is my daughters birth. I’m beyond angry about this. This has been my first Samsung device since switching from iphone. Not impressed one bit

Solution: Do you have a microSD card installed in the phone? If you have one then try removing it then check if the issue still occurs. Sometimes a faulty card can cause the phone to restart. In case the issue still persists then proceed with the additional steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. In case it doesn’t then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Start the phone in recovery mode then wipe the cache partition of the device.
  • Start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component. You will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.

S8 Wireless Charging Paused Error

Problem: Just bought my s8 brand New from the source still in box, everything works fine except when I place it on my Samsung wireless fast charger it just continuously starts charging and instantly saying charging paused, then charging again and pausing over and over until I take it off. Have you guys encountered this before? Is there an easy fix? My s7 still works fine on the fast charger so it has to be the phone. I have not installed anything on it yet or changed any settings it’s just like it comes from the manufacturer.

Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this case is to do a soft reset by pressing and holding the power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Once your phone restarts try checking if the issue still occurs. If it does then proceed with the steps listed below.

  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • If your phone has a case installed then remove this case as it might be interfering with the charging process.
  • Check if the issue occurs in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t then you might have downloaded an app that is causing this problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Try using a different charging cord and wall charger with the wireless charger.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S8 Only Turns On When Plugged To Charger

Problem: Hello.  My Samsung Galaxy S8 has randomly started acting very strange–(Note: This didn’t happen after any certain fatal drop or incident with it): It’s started turning off and flashing the Samsung Galaxy S8 screen until it’s plugged into a power source, then it charges and lets me turn it on sometimes.  When I can get it on, it usually only lasts for a little bit before it shuts down again. I’m just not sure what to do.

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to backup your phone data then do  factory reset. It’s best to do the reset in recovery mode. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check if the issue still occurs. If it does then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component possibly the battery or power IC. You will then need to bring the phone to a service center if this is the case.

S8 Unable To Charge Device Error

Problem: Today ( 6th June 2018) I woke up to a depleted battery with the grey battery symbol with a yellow triangle with a line through a black battery. This worried me as I have recently dropped my phone into water and was worried that there would be other risks, like this one I managed to do a soft reset and it worked fine. The real problem occurred when I tried to charge it, and error message saying “Unable to charge, Unable to charge your device. Make sure you are using a Samsung compatible battery and charger and that your device is properly connected to the charger” The real real problem is that it is a authentic Samsung  charger I have been using for months. If its anymore help the battery icon keeps flashing when its on ‘charge’. Please help, if you can great if not it was a good run.

Solution: Try cleaning the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port. Once the port is clean you should check if the phone can charge. If it still does not charge then use a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also check if the phone can charge from a computer USB port. If you have a wireless charger then try charging the phone with this as well.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be caused by a faulty hardware component.
