The #Xiaomi #Mi5 is a flagship quality phone released last year that sports excellent features. The phone sports a 5.15 inch Full HD display and is using a Snapdragon 820 processor which makes sure that the device runs smoothly. It also has a 16MP camera with OIS which takes great photos. Although this is a solid device there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. Mi 5 Fails To Recognize Fingerprint
Problem: Hi, My Mi5 sometimes fail to recognize my fingerprint and I am forced to enter password to unlock the screen. It’s so annoying. I think it happens when I keep in pocket and wrong characters gets entered no of times. I feel not sure thought. Also immediately after rebooting it doesn’t accept the fingerprint, you need to enter your password. And one more issue is you need to wake the phone to recognize the finger touch. If the screen is off finger touch won’t work. Kindly suggest me a solution. Thanks!
Solution: Make sure that your finger is dry when unlocking the phone using the fingerprint sensor as sometimes the phone will not unlock if your finger is wet. You should also make sure that the fingerprint sensor area of the phone is free from dirt.
Another troubleshooting step that you can do is to remove the stored fingerprint in the phone then set it up again.
In case the issue persists then I suggest that you do a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check if the issue still occurs.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this might already be caused by a faulty fingerprint sensor. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.
Mi 5 Is Unresponsive
Problem: Hello! I bought a Xiaomi 5 few days back and it was working just fine when one day, the back button and the option button was little less responsive than usual. But it was okay after a few touches. Then some days later, the screen becomes less responsive to touches and so did the back and option button. Till now, the screen touch , back button and option button gives problem often but fixes back automatically. When it’s less responsive to touches, I need to force touch it so that it works.
Solution: A phone will usually become unresponsive if there are several apps running in the background using up the RAM of the device and making the processor work at maximum capacity. Try restarting the phone then check if the issue still occurs as a restart will usually fix this problem. In case the issue still persists after this then you need to proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Boot the phone in Safe Mode. Once the phone is in this mode try to check if the issue occurs. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
Mi 5 Stuck In Bootloop After Getting Wet
Problem: hello so i rooted my device to use iphone emojis then accidently updated it so lost them been using it for 2+ weeks then yesterday i dropped it in ocean, used it for 10+ mins after the battery drained super quick so put it in rice now its stuck in bootloop but today it was stuck on the three dots loading screen but now gone back to just boot loop any suggestions without losing all my stuff
Solution: Since you already tried placing the phone in a bag of rice ( must be at least 48 hours in order for the rice to absorb the moisture inside the phone) and the issue still persists then there’s a chance that the phone is water damaged. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
Mi 5 Not Turning On
Problem: My phone would not turn on so i tried the volume down button and power button as suggested here. It didn’t work at first but when I plugged in my phone a couple minutes later the screen turned on and showed battery charging. This is the second time this has happened. Other times my phone won’t turn on when i try to use it but after a few minutes and pressing every single button (volume button is usually what works) the screen will turn on. What is this? Do you need a new phone? The problem or concern i am having is when i open a something a warming comes up. It doesn’t happen all the time but i screen starts flashing these weird messages. I get scared and just restart my phone. Do you know wharf they are? I’ve taken screen shots but i don’t see where i can load photos here.
Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This way you can check if the problem is caused by a software glitch. Once the reset has complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. What you should do first is to observe the phone and check if the issue still occurs. If it does then this is most likely a hardware related problem already in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
Mi 5 Takes Too Long To Charge
Problem: Hi, I’m having issues with my Xiaomi Mi 5 since almost a week ago. Loved the quick charge feature, but now is all the way around. Takes hours to charge and sometimes gets discharged even when is connected to the charging cable. The phone and computer recognizes that is charging/USB connected, however takes centuries to charge when I was used to have it fully charged in an hour. I’ve had this phone since december 2016, and the problem is happening days ago. The charging cable is not damaged or anything. It always rests on my night table and I take really good care of my phone and accessories.
Solution: What you should do right now is to clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in this port is removed. Once this is done try charging the phone again. If it still charges slowly then use a different charging cord and wall charger. If the issue persists then backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check first if the issue gets fixed. If it doesn’t then this could already be a hardware related problem in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
Mi 5 Not Charging Not Turning On
Problem: Hi, Problem: Not charging & Not getting turned on. Model: Mi-5
My phone was working fine until last night. It had some decent battery (30%) when I turned it off. User Scenario: Switched off last night and when tried to switch on in the morning, the phone did not turn on. Since then have charged the phone for few hours (2 hours approx), but it’s not getting turned on. Even the charging light does not show up when plugged for charge.
Tried other possibilities like –
- Hold power button + volume buttons together for reset, but nothing is working.
- Used different charging points
- Used different charges, tried to charge through computer, but nothing works.
Requesting for help. Many thanks.
Solution: It appears that this is already a hardware related problem possibly caused by a faulty battery or charging port. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
