Solved Samsung Galaxy S8 Battery Draining Fast

The #Samsung #Galaxy #S8 is a flagship phone released last year that sports a different design from its predecessor. This new model ditches the physical home button which now allows the large 5.8 inch Super AMOLED display to occupy most of the front part of the device. This device uses a Snapdragon 835 / Exynos 8895 processor combined with 4GB of RAM which allows it to run multiple apps smoothly. Although this is a solid performing phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S8 battery draining fast issue and other related problems.

S8 Battery Draining Fast

Problem: I do not know if It is my battery degrading or another problem. I’ve had my phone since the beginning of July. I have an S8. The date as I’m sending this is the 29th of April. My phone used to stay at full battery with moderate to heavy usage for about an hour. Now it lasts maybe a minute or 2 of usage before it reads 99 percent. I used to never have to charge my phone but now I usually have to during the middle of the day, which is hard with my busy schedule. I have done a factory reset, a clear cache and have tried power saving mode. Nothing seems to work. My phone is running on Android 7.0 and my carrier is US cellular. The reason I’m on nougat still is just because US cellular isn’t very good at bringing out updates. Please let me know what you think it is. I’ve thought about getting my battery replaced but I don’t want to waste 60 dollars if that’s what the problem is. Thanks!

Solution: Do you happen to have a microSD card installed in your phone? If you do have one then if it has corrupt sectors it will cause this kind of issue. Try removing the card then check if the issue still occurs.

You should also backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This time do the reset from the recovery mode, Once this is done do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check first if the battery still drains fast. If it does then it’s very likely that this is already caused by a faulty battery in which case you should have this replaced at a service center.

S8 Intermittently Not Charging

Problem: I have serious problems with charging S8 model to the point that it does not charge at all, at times. Then again sometimes it does at limited speed. Sometimes it switches. Sometimes I get the error message that charging at limited speed is occuring. I have performed ALL self-helping suggestions from the respective support-center site. To my best understanding, this is not a software issue. also I tried different chargers, cables and outlets – no combination yielded a different result.

Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this particular case is to clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port as this could prevent the phone from charging. Once the port is clean try using a different charging cord and wall charger to charge the phone. You should also check if the phone can charge from a computer USB port.

In case the problem persists then this could already be caused by a faulty hardware component possibly the charging port assembly, power IC, or battery. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S8 Randomly Rebooting

Problem: HI I have a Samsung S8 which has started randomly rebooting.  It freezes the the notification light goes a yellow colour, then turns white and reboots.  It sometimes sticks on the Samsung logo then starts up. I have done a soft reset, a factory reset but it still keeps doing  it. My phone has been updated to the latest software

Solution: Do you have a microSD card installed in your phone? If you have one then try removing it as this might be causing the problem.

If the problem persists even with no microSD card installed then proceed with the following troubleshooting steps.

  • Backup your phone data.
  • Start the phone in recovery mode
  • Perform a wipe cache partition.
  • Perform a factory reset.

Once the above steps have been performed do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check first if the phone still reboots. If it does then you will need to have this checked at a service center.

S8 Custom Binary Blocked By FRP

Problem: I had my Samsung S8 using but it got heated all of sudden, so I turned it off for 2 minutes , hoping to turn it on back. When I pressed my power button the samsung Galaxy S8 came up, along with “Custom binary blocked by FRP lock” at the extreme top left hand corner. How do I get my phone to work?

Solution: This error usually occurs after rooting the phone or installing a custom firmware.

The first thing to do in this case is to try doing a simulated battery pull on your phone. Press and hold both power and volume down buttons simultaneously for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this. In case the same error occurs then proceed with the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in recovery mode
  • Wipe the cache partition of the device.
  • Do a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data.

If the issue still persists then you should consider flashing the phone using Odin with its stock firmware file.
