S7 Will Not Charge Unless It Is Off

Problem: Hi, my Samsung Galaxy S7 won’t charge unless it’s completely turned off. I’ve tried every single charger in my house and it still says it wont charge unless I use the original. But I’ve been using the one I’m using right now since I got it and it worked just fine then. Please HELP

Solution: It looks like this could already be caused by a faulty hardware component. To verify if this is the case you should perform the following troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in the port is removed.
  • Try charging the phone using a different charging cord and wall charger.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check first  if the issue still occurs.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Is Not Turning On

Problem: For some reason my S7 was working perfectly fine in school for like the first two periods, and I was using it. All of a sudden I wanted to use and it never turned on. The whole day I was trying every possible way to turn it on, and nothing would ever come up. When I got home I plugged it into a charger and waited for like 30 minutes and tried again. Still nothing, now I really need help so please if you can give me some information to see if there is a fix for this. I am willing to do anything that can bring it back. Thank you

Related Problem: Used my samsung galaxy S7, put it on the charger for about an hour. Came back there was an orange light glowing (normally that’s when I get a notification for etsy) but it was solid, not blinking. The phone never turned on. I tried a hard and soft reset. I have tried several different phone charges as well. Still nothing. No lights or sounds

Solution: To fix this issue remove the microSD card of the phone first if you have one installed. Next, clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in this port is removed. Follow the steps listed below to charge the phone.

  • Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using its wall charger.
  • In case the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also try charging the phone from a computer USB port. If you have a wireless charger then you should try using this as well.
  • Turn on the phone by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Not Charging With New Replacement Battery

Problem: I have a Galaxy S7. I replaced the battery and it isn’t charging. The”bolt” shows up on the screen flashing but after 24 hours no charge. Phone will not turn on. I don’t know what I did, but whatever it was now there is blue “recovery booting” flashing on it in top left corner of screen. I was holding the phone trying to power it on when this happened and it was plugged into charger. I know that if i unplug it the phone will go off. I don’t know why the new battery wouldn’t charge but now im afraid to do anything.

Solution: Try cleaning the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air then use a different charging cord and wall charger to charge the phone. In case the issue still persists then this is likely caused by a hardware issue. The best thing you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
