The #Samsung #Galaxy #S7Edge is a former flagship phone released in 2016 that is the bigger version of the S7. This device uses a 5.5 inch Super AMOLED display that curves around both edges. Aside from its use of a larger 3600 mAh battery this phone shares similar components as that of the S7. Although this is a solid performing phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S7 Edge stuck on passcode screen issue and other related problems.

S7 Edge Stuck On Passcode Screen
Problem: My phone was not on charge last night. This morning i woke up and grabbed my phone, the device was off (it was on whenever I went to sleep with some battery life, i thought this was strange) I powered it on, it was at 48% battery. It continued to turn off and by itself for a good hour or two. Now, when i turn it on its stuck on the unlocking screen… I have my phone set up to needing a passcode before turning the device on… So its stuck on that screen and won’t go any further… I forgot to mention when my phone would turn on earlier, a bunch of icons were popping up saying “facebook has unfortunately stopped working” “messenger has unfortunately stopped working” and so on, and so on… There were about 20 of these icons popping up all at once, then my phone would shut off and reboot itself… I’m getting frustrated now that it won’t even start up after entering my passcode. I haven’t done any updates to software… That i’m aware of. Thank you!!
Solution: There’s a possibility that this problem is caused by a software glitch. To fix this you will need to start the phone in recovery mode then perform the steps listed below.
- Wipe the cache partition of the phone.
- Do factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data.
S7 Edge Not Turning On After Drop
Problem: I dropped my phone, I can only assume this is why it wont turn on. Previous to this it would crash when I used the phones actual camera app, but not the camera of apps like snapchat. Now my phone will not turn on at all after a drop, the colored notification/charging indicator light still works it seems. However when I push the power button (my home button does not work, hasn’t for a while) it shows a single thin streak of glitched color on the far left side of the screen, vertical all the way up/down. Don’t know what to do at this point, have seen things about people holding volume up, power button and home button, BUT my home button does not work.
Solution: It looks like the drop might have damaged the phone. The best thing that you can do right now to troubleshoot this issue is to connect the phone to its charger then let it charge for at least 20 minutes. Once this is done turn on the phone by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. If the issue persists then you will need to bring this phone to a service center and have it checked.
S7 Edge Shuts off On Its Own
Problem: My phone will shut off without warning. It will not turn back on unless I plug it in to the charger. Once plugged in it will show a dead battery and then shoe there is a charge. Is the battery bad or something else wrong.
Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to check if the problem is caused by a software glitch. To do this follow the steps listed below.
- Remove the microSD card of the phone if you have one installed.
- Start the phone in Safe Mode. Does the problem occur in this mode? If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Try wiping the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then this might already be caused by a faulty battery or other internal component. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S7 Edge Stuck On Samsung Screen With Blue LED Light
Problem: I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 edge. It is stuck on the Samsung Screen with the first blue light on solid. I tried the reboot holding down the power and volume down button. It goes to the edge screen then just shows the Samsung Logo again and won’t do anything else. I tried running the battery dead then charging to 100% before switching it on. I’m totally stuck.
Solution: Does your phone have a microSD card installed? If it does then try removing this first. Once it is removed you will need to start the phone in recovery mode then wipe the cache partition of the device. Follow this up with a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.
If the above steps fail then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be caused by a faulty hardware component.
