The #Samsung #Galaxy #S7 is one of the best older generation devices that is still being used by a lot of people today. This former flagship phone was first released in 2016. Back then it was one of the first devices to use the Snapdragon 820 / Exynos 8890 processor which when combined with its 4GB of RAM allowed the phone to run any app smoothly. Although this is a solid performing phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S7 accessing data when phone will not turn on issue and other related problems.

S7 Accessing Data When Phone Will Not Turn On
Problem: I started an update on my s7 phone and forgot to place it on charge overnight. The next morning my phone wouldn’t charge or switch on! I tried the soft reset options as directed by online Samsung support but to no avail. Although I have since upgraded my phone, have a lot of information on the s7 phone which wasn’t backed up so I am keen to see if I can access this or is it written off! I really appreciate your guidance in relation to this issue. Many thanks
Solution: Unfortunately, there is no way to access the data stored in the phone unless you are able to turn on the device. The best thing that you can do right now is to attempt to turn on the device by following the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port.
- Connect the phone to its wall charger and let it charge for at least 20 minutes.
- In case the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You can also try using a wireless charger or you can connect the phone to the USB port of any computer.
- When the phone charges try turning on the device by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons.
If the above steps fails to work then the problem could be caused by a defective battery, charging port, or power IC. If you need to retrieve the data stored in the phone then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it repaired.
S7 Screen Is Black After Drop
Problem: I dropped my S7 on the ground (back first) then the phone was all black and every few seconds show some white thing on the right side and vibrates for a second. i tried pressing the power, volume down, and home button but nothing shows up it’s been 3 days since the phone dropped and now it is just black but still vibrates every few second for a second
Solution: It looks like this might already be caused by a hardware component that got damaged by the drop. The troubleshooting step that you can do right now is to first connect the phone to its wall charger then start the device in recovery mode. In case the phone works in this mode then you will need to do a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S7 Power Button Not Working After Getting Wet
Problem: Hi, so I dropped my phone in water, quickly got it out, and it was working fine, then the power button wouldn’t work so I pressed it a couple times and it restarted, a black screen turned up with an X at the at the bottom left, it then moved to the right, (might be an ad from a game or something) but then it restarted AGAIN and it opened up after I entered my pass, the screen turned black and only let me use the task bar, after it restarted on its own once again, it’s started working but in still having trouble with the power button..I’m not sure if I have to get it fixed or what.
Solution: Although this phone has a water resistant feature it appears that water has entered the phone and is causing this problem with the power button. The best thing you can do right now is to place the phone in a bag of rice for at least 48 hours. The rice will absorb any moisture present inside the phone. Once this is done check if the power button can work.
If the issue persists then you will need to have the phone repaired at a service center.
S7 Does Not Turn On
Problem: Hi, I’m having issues with turning on my phone. It seems like there’s an update, but my phone died before that due to a low battery. It turns on when I connect to my computer but it dies as soon as the update screen shows up. It continuously repeats this process infinitely when it’s connected to my computer while I’m not even touching my phone. It doesn’t seem to charge if I plug it in an outlet. Please tell me what to do, I have no idea what has happened to my phone.
Solution: The first thing that you need to do is to make sure that the phone has sufficient charge. To do this you have to clean the charging port of the phone first using a can of compressed air. Once this is done connect the phone to its wall charger then let it charge for at least 20 minutes. In case the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also try charging the phone from a computer USB port. Once the battery has sufficient charge turn on the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset from here. Take note that this will erase your phone data.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
