This model is the latest phone in the Note series of devices that comes with several new features. Just like the new S series phones it no longer has a physical home button allowing it to have a large 6.3 inch Super AMOLED display on a compact body. This phone also has dual 12MP rear cameras which takes great quality photos. Although this is a solid performing phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy Note 8 is unresponsive issue and other related problems.

Note 8 Is Unresponsive
Problem: I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 8. I put my phone on my charger and went to sleep, I awoke a few hours later to feed my baby. I frequently use my phone at night while baby is eating. It was charged to 93 percent so I unplugged it and opened up Facebook messenger. The phone was severely slow but I didn’t think anything of it until it rebooted itself while I was typing. I thought okay whatever and left it alone because I was ready to go back to sleep. The next day my phone was practically unresponsive. It took a very long time to open up, and any app would make it crash and restart. After reading your site I perform all actions possible to have the phone working again. Soft reset, safe mode, even a master reset. The phone is still not functioning properly, even after a master reset and no downloads of any apps. I’m not sure what Android version means as I just use the phone as is.
Solution: If you have already performed a factory reset and the issue still persists then this could already be caused by a faulty hardware component. Does your phone have a microSD card installed? If it does then try removing it as this might be causing the problem. In case your phone does not have a microSD card installed and the issue still persists then you need to have this checked as a service center.
Note 8 Crashes Restarts After Software Update
Problem: Hello, I have noticed that after the last OS update in April my Samsung note 8 performance has been suspect with the phone crashing and restarting once in a while. Recently, Spotify is an app that crashes every other day. Today it happened again, only this time the phone crashed with it and started restarting itself a few times (never getting past the Samsung letter loading phase) it just restarts itself again. It did this for about 5 minutes and then the screen went black and the LED light is blue and continuously on. The phone refuses to switch on or off or do anything so I can’t try to restart/reboot it in any mode. Holding down the power button for over a minute just to try and switch it off does nothing also. Any thoughts on the cause and solution to this problem or shall I book an appointment with an authorised technician? Thank you.
Solution: If your phone has a microSD card then you should remove it. Once the phone does not have a microSD card start it in recovery mode then do a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data. After the reset do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check if the issue still occurs.
If the problem persists then you should have this checked at a service center.
Note 8 Keeps On Getting Software Update Notifications
Problem: My phone told me I had a system update, so I updated it once, and about 7 more times after that because it keeps telling me I have a system update. It’s getting really annoying. Why is it stuck in a system update loop? My husband has the same exact phone and his phone says it’s up to date. Why am I getting the notification, but he’s not? Is it because mine is Verizon prepaid, and he’s on a Verizon contract?
Solution: It’s very likely that this is caused by a software glitch. Try wiping the cache partition of the phone first from the recovery mode. If the issue still occurs after this then you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
