If you’re planning to get a flagship Android smartphone that doesn’t disappoint then the #Samsung #Galaxy #S8 should be at the top of your list. The first thing that you will notice on this phone is its front which seemingly doesn’t have any bezels and is made up mostly of the display. The company calls this the Infinity Display which is an end to end screen that spills over to the sides of the device. Although a lot of people are using this phone right now as their reliable daily driver there are still instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S8 not turning on after charging issue & other related problems.
S8 Not Turning On After Charging
Problem: I left my new samsung s8 charging with 28% at the last last night and yesterday in the morning i tried to start the phone but nothing happened No button worked i’m worried cause the phone cost a lot and i’m not capable do going 100 km to the samsung store just to leave my phone there… pls do you have a solution?
Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this particular case is a soft reset or a simulated battery pull. This is done by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this. In case it doesn’t then you should follow the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air. If there is any dirt or debris present in the port then make sure that it is removed.
- Charge your phone for at least 20 minutes. Make sure that the charging indicator is present.
- If the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also try charging the phone from a computer USB port.
- Try turning on the phone.
- If the phone does not turn on check if you are able to access the recovery mode. From here you will have to do a factory reset. Take note that your phone data will be erased in this process. Restart your phone after the reset.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S8 Moisture Has Been Detected Error Even If Phone Is Not Wet
Problem: I woke up other morning my phone had been charged over night like I do every night to it telling me moisture is detected in usb port. My phone hasn’t been in water around water nothing. For 3 days I’ve have tried everything that everyone has suggested online apart from a factory reset. But upon looking online I don’t seem to be alone with this issue.
Related Problem: I am getting a moisture detection error on my Samsung Galaxy 8. I have shaken it & dried it a bit with a blow dryer but it won’t stay on or let me charge it. Please help. Thank you so much!!
Solution: If you live in an area that is humid then it is possible that moisture will be present in the charging port. The phone will then prevent the battery from being charged to protect the device. What you will want to do in this case is to make sure that the charging port is dry by blowing into the port. You can also use a hair dryer to remove the moisture.
In case the issue still persists then the next step is to check if a software glitch is causing this problem. You will need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
Should the above steps fail to fix the issue then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
S8 Not Charging After Getting Wet
Problem: i used my phone in swimming. trying it because the reason i bought this is i want to use it underwater. the video is good. but the camera isn’t working underwater. after the swimming i let it dry then after a day i used it and charge it. but now after 5 days my phone wont charge. it keeps saying moisture detected. until it drains the battery and now i cant open it or even charge it.
Solution: If you get a moisture is detected error on your phone then there’s a possibility that moisture is indeed present in the charging port of the device. What you will want to do right now is to make sure that the port is dry by using a vacuum or hair dryer to remove the moisture. Once this is done try charging your phone for at least 20 minutes. In case the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger.
Should the issue persist then I recommend that you bring this phone to a service center and have it checked.
S8 Not Receiving Text Message From One Number
Problem: I have just received the s8 and I am not receiving text messages. So far it’s only my husband I can’t receive them from. He also has a samsung but the s7. I’m not sure about any others as I’m not receiving them. He isn’t blocked in my phone. What do I do?
Solution: If you have already checked your phone and no number is blocked from sending you text messages then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Turn off your phone.
- Remove the SIM card then reinsert it.
- Turn on the phone then delete your husband’s message thread and contact number from your phone.
- Clear the cache and data of the text messaging app.
- Add your husband’s contact number.
- Have him send you a message.
In case you are still not receiving his text messages then I recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete try to check if the issue still occurs. If it does then you should contact your carrier regarding this matter as this could already be a network related issue.
S8 Facebook Notifications Do Not Sound
Problem: I recently upgraded from the Galaxy S6 Edge to the S8. On the S8, my Facebook notifications will not sound. All other notifications sound. I have tried changing the sound selected, even a third party sound, but no luck. I get the popup and the badge, but no sound.
Solution: Try restarting your phone first as this usually fixes this kind of problem. If the issue still occurs then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Make sure that you are using the stock notification tones of the app.
- Check the app notification settings and make sure that it is turned on for Facebook. Go to do this go to Settings – Notifications – All apps should be On. You should also go to the notification for the Facebook app then make sure that Allow Notification is set.
- Try clearing the cache and data of the Facebook app.
- Uninstall the Facebook app then install a fresh version from the Google Play Store.
S8 Randomly Unmutes
Problem: When you set phone to Mute about an hour later it goes to sound — I think I saw a screen one time on setting the number of hours to keep your phone on mute before switching back to sound, but am unable to find that screen again.
Solution: The phone only has a setting to manually turn on the mute and manually turn it off. If you would like the phone to deactivate the mute setting after a specified amount of time then you could try downloading a third party app from the Google Play Store that can do this.
