S7 Shuts Down When Connecting To Wi-Fi

Problem: Ever since using Wi-Fi in with america my S7 shuts down and restarts each time it connects to wifi. Even if i don’t use phone for several minutes and homescreen comes on, as soon as i use wifi again it will restart again. And now it won’t bring up keyboard when i’m trying to google. I have to use talk to text. Thanks.

Solution: The phone restarting when connecting to Wi-Fi issue is usually caused by a software glitch and has affected several owners of this phone right after the latest software update. While this might seem like a serious issue it can easily be resolved by doing a factory reset. Just make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset as it will be erased in the process.

The keyboard issue that you are experiencing with the device will also be resolved by performing the reset.

S7 Not Receiving Text From One Contact

Problem: My Samsung galaxy s7 seems to have a messaging problem. Specifically with not receiving text messages from one specific contact. I saw a similar issue here but that was for having a contact blocked. This contact is not blocked and I have quadruple checked that. Plus, I sometimes am able to receive text messages from this person. This happens at random times that I haven’t been able to pin down. I’ll be able to text back and forth with this person then all of a sudden I can’t. They seem to be able to get my messages (at least 99% of the time but there has been one instance they have not). I have contacted my carrier and we reset my phone, updated profile, etc. Still happens. I am using a Google messenger app from the play store.

Related Problem: My Galaxy S7 does not receive texts from certain phone numbers. This started 3 weeks ago and is ongoing. My carrier is Rogers.

Solution: The best way to check if the problem is with the phone or the network is to remove the SIM card from your phone then insert it in another phone. Try to check if the issue occurs with this other phone. If it does then this might be a problem caused by the SIM card itself or the network. You should try getting a new SIM if there’s no issue with the network.

If however the issue does not occur when the SIM is inserted in another phone then it’s time to troubleshoot your phone by following the steps listed below.

  • Reinsert the SIM back to your phone.
  • Clear the cache and data of the text messaging app from the recovery mode.
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. When the phone operates in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. Check if the issue occurs when the phone is running in this mode. If it doesn’t then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S7 Text Message Received Not Appearing In Messaging App

Problem: Upgraded to the s7, But when I get a text I can see it in preview but not in the messages app. Also can’t see any messages I have sent and despite changing the date so it is correct it is showing 2037 at the year Help Thanks

Solution: Let’s tackle the time and date issue of the phone first. I suggest you set the time and date settings of the phone to acquire automatically from the network.

  • From a Home screen, tap Apps
  • Tap Settings.
  • Tap Date and time.
  • To use network provided values, tap the Automatic date and time switch to enable

The phone time and date should be correct once this is set.

Regarding the issue of the text message not appearing on the messaging app you can fix this by following the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Make sure that you don’t have any contacts blocked in your phone.
  • Try clearing the cache and data of the text messaging app. Once this is done restart the phone. Check if the issue still occurs.
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. Does the issue occur in this mode? If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S7 Turns On And Off

Problem: my s7 turns on and off. later the screen turns black and it doesn’t turn back on. i tried all the possible methods but still it doesn’t work. and now the whole battery drained and it does charge when it is connected to the charger.

Related Problem: After removing and replacing the SIM Card slot (With battery On) It does not switch On.I just heard the Samsung Logo tone but the screen is black. Battery is charge 3.2Volts

Solution: Try performing a simulated battery pull. This is done by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. If the screen still doesn’t turn on then you will have to start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset from here. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then this could already be a hardware related issue in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Not Receiving Notifications

Problem: I am not receiving any notification that i have a text message or an email.  This has just happened in the last week or so.  I’m sorry but i have no idea what version my phone has and i don’t know how to figure it out.  So i will be guessing below

Solution: The first thing that you will need to check in this case is the sound settings of the phone. Make sure that it isn’t set to mute. If necessary drag the volume control all the way to its maximum level. Once this is done go to the lock screen notification settings and make sure that it is set properly. Take note that if you have a Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync account set up on the phone then the “Do Not Show Notifications” is going to be the default setting.

  • From a Home screen, navigate to Apps then Settings then Lock screen and security.
  • Tap Notifications on lock screen.
  • Tap Content on lock screen
  • Tap Show content

Once this is done go to the advanced notification setting of the phone then make sure that the messaging and email notifications are properly set.

  • Swipe down from the top of your screen to reveal the Notification Shade.
  • Tap on the Settings button in the top right corner
  • Tap on the Notifications button
  • Toggle the slider of the app you want to enable/disable notifications for

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then try doing a factory reset. Just make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
