S7 Screen Is Black Unresponsive
Problem: Screen is black and unresponsive. All buttons.work and are responsive including back and windows. Bar of white appears on the left of the phone when soft reset. Also still vibrates.
Solution: The first thing you need to do is to try pressing and holding the power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this. If the issue persists then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- If your phone has a microSD card installed then try removing it as this might be causing the problem.
- Charge your phone for at least 20 minutes using its wall charger.
- In case the phone does not charge then clean the charging port first using a can of compressed air then try using a different charging cord and wall charger.
- Check if the phone starts in Safe Mode. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset from here. Take note that this will erase your phone data.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this might already be caused by a faulty hardware component in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S7 Predictive Texting Not Working
Problem: Hi there, The issue with predictive texting goes back a couple of updates (possibly even just prior to that) ago. Before, it auto-corrected the words and would fill it in properly when I mistype d them. I used the word ‘mistype d’ as an example of some of the words it tends to insert in place of the correctly spelled words. There are other words such as ‘in’ where it populates it as IN. If I spell a word incorrectly, and backspace to delete and then enter the correct word, it keeps entering the deleted word again instead. All of these issues occurred after the update a few months back. I cleared dictionary before and started from scratch but it didn’t help much other than briefly at the start. The update they did screwed up the predictive texting. Any fixes that you are aware of and can recommend. Also, any way to stop pop up ads from coming up? It comes up even when I go to text and don’t have any browsers open and there are no adware programs that installed on my phone that I found when looking through the programs as suggested on online forums. Ad blocker programs I found provide me with a different browser to use but doesn’t help when not using a browser so I didn’t install them. My device just says Android version 7.0…not sure if that is Nougat or not as per your drop down menu for Android version. I’m in Ontario, Canada and the carrier is Telus.
Solution: The best way to tackle this issue right now since you mentioned that it occurred right after a software update and since you are also getting pop up ads it to perform a factory reset. Just make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset as it will be deleted in the process.
S7 Only Charges From Computer USB Port
Problem: Phone will not charge from any outlet other than computer usb port. Tried multiple cords and chargers (110v & 12v) but nothing works other than usb port on any computer. wierd.
Solution: Try cleaning the charging port of your phone first using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port. Once this is down try charging the phone again using its wall charger. If the issue persists then one of the pins of the phone charging port might be damaged. You will need to have this checked at a service center.
S7 Not Hearing Calls
Problem: Hello. I got my Samsung Galaxy s7 3 months ago. About one month ago I noticed that during calls, I randomly won’t be able to hear the other person and they cannot hear me. However the call is still going. I’ve called Samsung and we performed a wide cache clear and a factory reset but the issue persists. Help?
Solution: If you have already performed a factory reset and the issue still persists then the factors listed below could be causing the problem.
- The location you are making the calls. It’s possible that the towers in the area you are making the calls could have a problem or the signal might be low. Try making calls in a different location then check if the problem still occurs.
- Try placing a different SIM in your phone then check if the same issue occurs. If it does then this could already be a hardware related problem in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S7 Keeps On Restarting
Problem: Hello there. I really need help! My S7 phone keeps restarting continuously, so I surfed the internet which suggested me to go to Android Recovery. But once I did so the screen freezes and I can neither turn off my phone nor reset. I could not even move the screen in any way! Please help me solve my problem.
Solution: If your phone has a microSD card installed then try removing it as this might be causing the problem. Onc this is done press and hold the power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this. If the issue persists then you should start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset from here. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S7 Stuck In Samsung Startup Screen
Problem: Samsung galaxy S7 after normal use, no drops or errors showing up, is stuck on the Samsung start up screen. Charging it changes nothing. It will not turn off with a hard shut down and might be overheating (the device is fairly warm).
Solution: Does your phone have a microSD card installed? If it does then try removing it as this might be causing the problem. You should also consider doing a factory reset from the recovery mode to fix this problem. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data. If the reset fails then this might already be a hardware related issue in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S7 Not Turning On After Overnight Charging
Problem: My samsung galaxy s7 was plugged in last night when i went to bed and this morning when i woke up my screen wouldnt turn on and the led light was in. I tried all of the reboots and everything and it still wont turn on. Help?
Solution: What you will want to do in this case is to remove the microSD card of the phone ( if you have one installed) then simultaneously press and hold the power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this. If it doesn’t then try charging the phone again for at least 20 minutes then repeat the previous step. In case the issue persists then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
