The other features of this phone include waterproofing, dust proofing, and a microSD card slot for easy storage upgrades. Although this is a solid phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S7 no longer fast charging issue & other related problems.

S7 No Longer Fast Charging
Problem: Out of nowhere my phone is no longer charging fast . If I plug it in it takes several hours like 14 to 15 hours to finally reach 100% and it dies within 1 to 2 hours I don’t know what’s going on with it please help
Solution: There’s a possibility that this issue is already caused by a faulty battery since it charges too slow and it drains too quickly. You should however perform the troubleshooting steps listed below to eliminate any factors that can cause this problem.
- Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in the port is removed.
- Charge your phone using a different charging cord and wall charger. Make sure that this charger has an output rating of at least 2.0A.
- If the phone still charges slowly then backup your phone data and do a factory reset. Once this is done check the charging and discharging status of the phone.
In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then this is most likely caused by a faulty battery already. You will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.
S7 Screen Is Black After Drop
Problem: My S7 was dropped the screen is intact but shattered on the left side. the screen is black, it will charge, and LED comes on but, I can’t tell if its off or on, is there anything I can do to fix it?? Yes, I’ve held all 3 buttons & tried everything else on your Site!!
Solution: Since the screen is shattered then the best way to fix this problem is to have the whole display assembly replaced at a service center.
S7 Stuck On Application Installation After Software Update
Problem: i have updated the new software and it has been stuck on application installation what should i do it has been stuck for an hour
Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to force the phone to restart by pressing and holding the power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this. If the issue persists then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
- Start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.
S7 Will Not Charge
Problem: hi my s7 ran out of battery (was working fine beforehand) and now will not charge wireless or with usb has no lights or anything just completely black.. please help. Thanks
Solution: To fix this problem you should try a battery pull first which is done by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. If your phone does not start then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in the port is removed.
- Charge your phone for at least 20 minutes.
- If the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also try charging the phone from a computer USB port as well as by using a wireless charger.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this might already be caused by a battery that is not working.
S7 Front Camera Not Working
Problem: S7 front cam issue only, the rear is fine. Switch to front cam and I get approx 3 seconds of preview then it freezes and I get a “Warning, Unknown error occurred”. Front cam works fine through the service mode *#0*# HwModuleTest I have gone through all recommended steps to fix it up to and including factory reset. Problem is still evident using alternative 3rd party camera app. Any help is appreciated, cheers
Solution: Since a factory reset fails to fix the problem then this is most likely a hardware issue already possibly caused by a faulty front camera module. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S7 Camera Failed Error
Problem: The camera app pops up with error camera failed pop up every time I open the app. I’ve switched it on and off and sometimes the camera works again but most of the time the pop up comes back. I have gone through the troubleshooting steps and none of it seems to be working. I hope you can help me, Kind regards
Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this particular case is to clear the cache and data of the camera app from the application manager. This will clear out the temporary data of the app which could be causing the problem. If the issue still persist then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Start the phone in Safe Mode. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S7 Randomly Not Receiving Text Messages
Problem: Phone randomly not receiving texts. When I send a text – seemingly no issues there – I will usually get the responses to those texts only once have I not received a text in a direct line of texting back and forth. Usually it is when ahh text is sent to me out of the blue that I won’t receive it. We tried switching the network. Restarting the phone. Escalated issue with Rogers tech support and they couldn’t find the issue or offer any explanation. Recently switched plans with them and still issue persists.
Solution: You should try checking if this is a software related issue. To do this you have to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then this might be a hardware related problem already possibly caused by a faulty antenna. You will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S7 How To Remotely Download An App
Problem: By any chance, could I possibly download and app to my son’s Samsung Galaxy S7 (almost an hour away from my location) using only the access of my MacBook Pro? I am trying to video chat my 5 year old son and normally, we will use Tango. However, I do not have my phone with me at the moment and he is just too young to understand how to install a new app by himself. Solution: Unfortunately, there is no way to remotely install an app on the phone. It has to be done by the phone user with the phone on hand.
