S7 Freezes On AT&T Logo
Problem: My turns on but freezes at the AT&T logo. attempting to do a backup from recovery mode but can find a backup and restore option that other guides tell me to go to. Please help, I understand I’ll likely need to do a factory reset, I was hoping to save some files.
Solution: You won’t be able to save your phone data from recovery mode. The only way you will be able to save your phone data is if the phone is turned on and since it is stuck in the AT&T logo right now then this is impossible to to. What you will want to do right now is troubleshoot the issue without resorting to a factory reset first.
- Remove the microSD card of the phone is you have one installed.
- Press and hold the power and volume down button for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this.
- Try starting the phone in recovery mode then wipe the cache partition of the device. Restart the phone then check if the phone successfully boots.
- Connect your phone to it’s charger and let it charge for at least 20 minutes. With the phone still connected to the charger try turning it on.
In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then your last option is to do a factory reset from the recovery mode however this will erase your phone data.
S7 Not Turning On After Software Update
Problem: My daughters galaxy s7 just stopped working last night, she said she did an update on it but I am not sure what the update was 2 nights ago. August 14th 2017. I googled and then tried all of the booting instruction you had on your site, by holding the power, home, and volume buttons and nothing worked. It will not turn on in any way at all. After she did the update the phone became unplugged while she was sleeping and so it never charged, so we tried charging it, I made sure the charger was working and then plugged it in, it got very hot on the actual phone. but still won’t turn on. I am not to sure what else we can do. The phone was a sprint phone but now it’s not she uses it on wifi only but it has all her picture and such on it. any help would be great.
Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to perform a simulated battery pull. This is done by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. If there is no response from the phone then follow the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Remove the microSD card of the phone.
- Clean the charging port using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in the port is removed.
- Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using its original charger.
- If the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger,
- You should also try charging the phone from a computer USB port. If the phone charges this way then one of the pins of the charging port might be damaged. Have this checked at a service center.
In case the above steps fails to turn on the phone then this might already be caused by a hardware component that is failing to work. I suggest that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset if this is the case.
S7 Moisture Detected In Charging Port
Problem: Hello, I’m facing charging issue related to the error message: “Moisture detected in charging port”. However, I haven’t had phone in the water and I checked sticker in the SIM card slot that indicates if the phone suffered water damaged and it seems to be fine. The problem is that battery is completely empty so I cannot try reset or something similar. Could you please suggest what to do. Thank you in advance!
Solution: Even if the phone has not come into contact with water it can also get this error message if the environment is humid. The best thing that you can do right now is to make sure that the charging port is dry. You can leave it for 2 hours in a dry place as the moisture will evaporate naturally. You can also use a hair dryer to dry the charging port.
In case the error still occurs then the next step is to check if this is caused by a software glitch. Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S7 Apps Keep On Refreshing
Problem: I have a Galaxy s7 and it has been driving me crazy for the last month or so. All apps keep refreshing while trying to use them. I scroll down Facebook for 30 sec, and then it suddenly takes me back to the top. When I’m trying to type a text, the keyboard keeps closing. If I’m trying to send a photo, the keyboard closes and the whole text and photo get a removed. If I try and play a game, the app will just shut down. It seems to be happening to any app that I try and use. Today, I was trying to look at something specific on Facebook and every 30sec or so, it would take me back to the main refreshed newsfeed. It is extremely frustrating. I have cleared the cache, I have tried to delete apps I don’t use very much. My only remaining option, that I can see, is a factory reset, but that is a last resort. I have seen this question asked on many forums, but I have yet to see someone actually reply with something that has worked. Help! Thanks!
Solution: Since this issue is happening in most apps in your phone then a factory reset is a good decision. You should however try to wipe the cache partition of your phone first from the recovery mode. In case this doesn’t fix the problem then you need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S7 Restarts At Random Times After Software Update
Problem: Hi! A couple days ago I updated the software (as far as I can tell it was a minor update) on my phone and now it will restart at random times unless it is in airplane mode. I’m on vacation so preferably I wouldn’t need to factory reset my phone. Do you have any troubleshooting suggestions while I’m away?
Solution: To fix this problem without doing a factory reset then you should follow the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Update your phone apps. This can be done on the My Apps section of the Google Play Store.
- Try removing the microSD card of your phone ( if the phone has one installed). Sometimes if this card is corrupt it can cause this type of issue.
- Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
- Check if the issue occurs in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should consider doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
