S7 Drains Fast When Taking Photo

Problem: My phone is a little over a year old and last winter I had no problems. This winter, anytime I try to take a photo with phone (below freezing) I can watch the battery drain from 70-15-0% in 30 seconds. When I try to plug it in, I get a battery icon with a thermometer. After a few minutes of warmth my battery is back up to 70%. Does this imply I need a new battery? Living in Minnesota, the weather is below freezing 3 months a year, so not using it in the cold isn’t an option and I can’t imagine Samsung would say people living in cold climates shouldn’t use their phones. This is a safety concern for me, as I mountain bike in the winters and if I get injured, this is my only way to get help in the woods. Thanks for your help!

Solution: Your phone has been tested to work even in below freezing conditions. It might not perform quite as well but the changes are not that drastic. If your phone battery drains quickly when you take a photo then there’s a possibility that the problem is caused by a faulty battery. I recommend that you have this checked and possibly replaced at a service center.

S7 Not Turning On After Drop

Problem: I dropped my phone about 3 feet onto my kitchen floor. It won’t turn on. I have watched some youtube videos and nothing has worked. I plugged in my phone and at the top left it says recovery booting…… it has been like this for an hour.

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to simulate a battery pull which is done by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this. If it doesn’t then try starting the phone in recovery mode then from here perform a factory reset. Take note that this reset will erase your phone data.

In case the above steps don’t work then the drop might have damaged a component inside the phone. You will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Not Getting Notifications After Software Update

Problem: Ever since I upgraded the os on the phone, I don’t consistently receive text and email notifications anymore. I’ve enabled them in every conceivable place and still doesn’t work. I have the stock samsung mail app and the gmail app and the stock text message app. Also, I set a security pin and it doesn’t engage when the screen goes off, only when starting the phone after turning power on for the first time.

Solution: It’s very likely that this problem is caused by some old software data that has not been completely removed during the update process. The best thing that you can do right now is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S7 Not Receiving Text Messages

Problem: Samsung S7 Every so often I will get a message ping…..only to find absolutely no new communications on my phone…..not very often. I am worried that I miss text messages sent to me…..and even if all I send get to their destination. I know from a friend that she has sent me a text that shows it delivered to me….and I absolutely never got it…..what to do?

Solution: Try clearing the cache and data of the text messaging app then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then the next step is to check if an app you installed is causing the problem. To do this you will need to start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then the problem could be caused by a downloaded app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will have to perform a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

S7 Keeps On Updating Messages

Problem: My phone is always trying to update messages via “Backup and Restore Manager’. But it seems to hangs and does not update anything. As a result, I also cannot back my phone using Samsung Smart Switch as it prompt that “data is being restored on the device”.

Solution: Try restarting the phone then one the phone has fully started connect it to a different Wi-Fi network. Check if the update completes. If it still doesn’t then try  clearing the cache and data of the text messaging app then follow this up by wiping the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.

S7 Bottom Part Of Screen Not Working

Problem: my galaxy S 7 is not working. yesterday it wasn’t blue, but the bottom part where in unlock the last 3 connecting dots for security won’t let me press them and when I did It would show me pressing the one above it. the only way I could open it was to use my finger I’m typing to you from my tablet and I don’t want to pay a ridiculous amount of money to fix it and today the screen went blue then purple and still won’t let me use the bottom part I tried resetting it but now I can’t get into my phone please help I need that phone for work.

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to start the phone in recovery mode then from here perform a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data. In case the issue still occurs after this then the problem is most likely caused by a damaged digitizer. You will need to have this checked at a service center.

S7 Half Of Screen Is Very Bright

Problem: Hello. So, I have a problem with my Samsung S7. Half of my screen is brighter than the other one(almost white). I gave it a restart, uninstalled all the new apps and is still the same. What else can I do before taking it to the store? Looking forward to hear from you.
