S6 Screen Is Black Unresponsive After Drop
Problem: Hi There, I hope you can help. I dropped my phone which was in my case on the floor, it fell on the end of the cable port to charge your phone. The phone started to have a purple line on the screen, which was only a small line, then after a 20 minutes the screen started to change all purple. I was not able to see much on the screen, Within an hour the phone was completely black and unresponsive. I booked this in was Samsung repair and advised them that it was internal liquid damage and I did not drop this in any water. Well it stayed with Samsung for a couple of days and asked them if this was fixable, the quotation fee will cover any battery or software issues found with the device. If any physical damages are found on the device then please be aware we may need to raise a second quotation to cover this. In the case that the device is deemed beyond economical repair (BER) we will return the device to you and a full refund will be issued. So this was not even looked at. Can you please advise me if this is fixable? I can hold the power button and the blue led light comes on but the screen is totally black. Thank you.
Solution: If this issue occured right after you dropped the phone then there’s a possibility that some component, most likely the display, got damaged. It’s very likely that this display will have to be replaced. While this is a fixable issue there’s a possibility that multiple components got affected by the drop in which case having the phone fixed might cost a lot than getting a new phone.
S6 Will Not Charge
Problem: Hello, My phone will not charge. I know that it is not frozen because it turns on however the battery is at 0%. I have tried to reboot it and the most that has changed is the battery symbol at least popped up on the screen when I plugged the phone in but charging is not taking place; there is no blinking charging light or signs of charging when I press the power button. I have tried different chargers that I know work and also tried plugging my own cable into my computer as a part of the troubleshooting steps however my phone only displayed the battery symbol as stated before without continuing to charge. Is there anything else left to try or should I send the phone in for repair? Also I am not sure what version my phone is so I chose “other” Thank you!
Solution: You should try cleaning the charging port of the phone first using a can of compressed air making sure that any dirt or debris stuck in the port is removed. Once this is done check if the phone can charge. If it doesn’t then proceed with checking if this is caused by a software glitch by doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. In case the phone still does not charge after this then this might be caused by a defective charging port, faulty battery, or damaged power IC. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S6 Will Hard Reset Affect Unlock Status Of Phone
Problem: Hello, I was wondering if you could help. Firstly I live on St Helena Island, and there is only one network provided. There is no such technical shops I could take my phone too. My phone was purchased in the UK, Vodafone. When purchases it was suppose to have been unlocked so that I could use with my network provided on island. The phone arrived on St Helena and was locked. After along while, I managed to get a code to unlock the phone. However since then, the phone is unable to pick up a wifi signal. Off late I am also unable to use my data to connect to internet etc.An IT person on island (who is qualified) suggest hard resetting the phone. If I do this, would the phone be incompatible with the islands network. I have attached a website to my network provided – www.sure.co.sh. General information about the island www.sainthelena.gov.sh/. Any help advice you could give would be greatly appreciated.
Solution: Performing a factory reset on the phone will return it to its out of the box state. This means that any apps you installed or data that you saved in the phone will be deleted. If you entered an unlock code to unlock your phone making it carrier free then the unlock status of the device should remain even after the factory reset.
S6 Screen Goes Black After Getting Wet
Problem: I dropped my phone in water. For about 5 minutes afterwards, it worked. Then the screen went black and felt like it was burning. Now it keeps going to the black reset screen, and then to the red Verizon screen in which it vibrates. I can get into it right after it does this, but it will only stay on for 30 seconds before the screen goes black, and it starts all over again.
Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to place the phone in a bag of rice for at least 48 hours. The rice will absorb the moisture inside the phone. Once this is done check if the issue still occurs. If it does then it’s very likely that the phone has suffered from water damage. The best thing to do right now is to bring this to a service center and have it checked.
S6 Will Not Turn On
Problem: My S6 won’t turn on. I had it charged last night and the battery was in 43%. The next morning, when I tried to switch it on, it just wont power on. I also tried to charge it thinking that maybe it has empty battery. But it doesn’t also charge and there’s no red LED indicator flashing at the upper right.I took it to a repair place thinking it was the battery but it’s not the battery and they wouldn’t run diagnostics without some payment. Please help I’m thinking it could be the motherboard. Is that replaceable? Thank you
Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to perform the troubleshooting steps listed below to charge the phone.
- Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air making sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in the port.
- Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using a different charging cord and wall charger.
- Check if the phone can charge from a computer USB port.
- Turn on the phone by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this is most likely a hardware related issue possibly caused by a faulty charging port or power IC. It could also be caused by a faulty battery. In case the issue is caused by a faulty motherboard then it can still be replaced however this might cost a lot and it would be a much better idea to get a new phone.
S6 Unfortunately System UI Failed To Start
Problem: hello, a few days ago i updated my phone to nougat 7, since then i couldn’t use private mode so i tried to downgrade it. now my phone wont go past restarting samsung logo. it says “unfortunately system ui failed to start”
Solution: What you should do in this case is to start the phone in recovery mode then wipe the cache partition of the phone and do a factory reset. In case the issue persists then I recommend that you flash your phone again using Odin.
