S6 Not Turning On If Not Connected To Charger

Problem: Hello, I recently dropped my phone into water (a lake) and it stayed inside the water for about 30 to 45 seconds. Once I got it out, it was still on and playing music, shutting down immediately after I removed it from the water. I’ve put it into rice for about one and a half week. After the rice treatment I tried to turn it on, with no luck, the phone wouldn’t even blink. So I tried to plug the charger, and voilá the phone started to work again, and the battery displayed as it was charging. I browsed my photos, went to the internet, used to camera, made a call, etc everything works perfectly just as it did before, so I decided to unplug it and the phone turned black as soon as I removed the cable. If I plug it in it works perfectly, but without the charger it won’t even turn on. A few days later the battery started to swell, it even opened the back piece. I’m not into sending it to a repair center since the phone comes from a different country than the one I currently live in. Is it most likely to be a faulty battery because of the waterfall? or is it something more serious? I have the phone dismantled and am waiting for a new battery to arrive, but I wanted to be a little more certain that it’s “just” the battery… can you guys help me out here? thanks in advance.

Solution: There are two possible factors that can cause this particular problem. First is obviously the battery since it has swelled and needs to be immediately replaced. This could be what’s causing the phone not to work if not connected to the charger. The second factor is a faulty power IC. This component manager the power management of the phone and will usually cause this kind of problem is it is not working properly.

In case the issue still persists after you have replaced the battery then I recommend that you have the power IC of the phone checked at  a service center.

S6 Black Screen with Blue LED Light After Drop

Problem: i dropped my phone and the screen went black. there’s a little blue light in the top left corner, where the notification light up, that’s rotating like, blue colors. if i hold down on the power and home button there is a small flash in the top right of my screen. i tried putting it on the charger, but my charging port broke and i’ve had to charge my phone wirelessly, which hasn’t been working very well either.

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to check if the phone can start in recovery mode. If it the screen works in this mode then there’s a possibility that the problem is caused by a software glitch. You should do a factory reset from here to fix the problem. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.

If the issue persists then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Not Responding To Wireless Charger

Problem: My galaxy s6 won’t respond to a wireless charger. My sis and i both got a new wireless charger and her phone works with both chargwrs, my phone wont…what can i do?

Solution: Your phone should wirelessly charge if it is placed in a working wireless charging pad. If it doesn’t then follow the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Try using a different charger on the wireless charging pad.
  • Try replacing the charging cord.
  • Try charging from a PC.
  • Try disabling and re-enabling NFC.
  • Try removing your case if the phone has one installed.
  • Trying putting something between the phone and the charger to ‘raise it’ a little.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the phone still does not wirelessly charge then you should bring it to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Not Charging After Drop

Problem: Hi, I accidentally dropped my phone in some snow yesterday, the first time it wouldn’t charge, i restarted it and then it charged just fine, The second time, a restart did nothing, putting it in safe mode did nothing. My computer couldn’t detect the phone so I thought it was a cable problem but using someone else’s charger did nothing as well. What do i do?

Solution: What you should do right now is to clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port. Try charging the phone. If it still does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger.

If the issue persists then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this might already be caused by a faulty charging port.

S6 Not Charging After Battery Fully Drained

Problem: Hi, 2 months ago I bought my wife a Galaxy S6. Although this is an old model, it was a new phone in a sealed box and initially worked perfectly. However, she let the phone completely discharge and it will not now recharge. After a few seconds, the charge icon appears, and then disappeared again. It then just keeps flashing on and off. I have tried using different charge cables, including the one I use to successfully charge my S7. The S6 has had very little usage.

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Once this is done simulate a battery pull. You do this by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. If the phone does not start then try charging it for at least 20 minutes then try turning it on.

In case the issue persists then this problem might already be caused by a faulty battery. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.

S6 Keeps Crashing After Battery Replacement

Problem: Replaced battery for Galaxy S6 on 12/18 (Ravonick, I think and may of spelled wrong, S6 replacement battery). Experienced new and random issues, within a day or two, for example no detected charge until I restarted the phone then it would begin to charge, randomly crashing, and a jumping percentage of charge left. Now it is 12/24-12/25 (merry xmas) and I cannot keep the phone ON unless it is hooked to a charger. Even at 52% it will crash repeatedly when unhooked. This appears to be a charge/battery issue since these issues arised from the new replacement battery, but I want to know your opinion.

Solution: You will want to check first if the problem is caused by a software glitch. To do this you have to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. If the issue still persists then it’s very likely that this is caused by the replacement battery. You should try replacing this battery then check if the issue still occurs.

S6 Is Lagging

Problem: I just got a brand new (verizon) Galaxy S6 I ordered online, have only had it for 2-2 1/2 weeks or so and it’s been working pretty good till like a few days ago. It keeps lagging like the touchscreen sensor needs to be calibrated or something but apparently there isn’t a calibration tool for this phone. And sometimes when I try to tap in a box to type anytime I’m online, it’ll glitch, like every time I tap in the box it just automatically starts scrolling up & sometimes down then it’ll just look like fidgety & glitchy. Any ideas?

Solution: The first thing that you should do in this particular case is to check if the problem is caused by an app you installed. To do this just start the phone in Safe Mode. if the problem does not occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

In case the issue occurs in Safe Mode then the next thing to do is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Do not install any apps in the phone after the reset has completed. Try to check first if the issue disappears. If it doesn’t then this is most likely a hardware related problem already in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
