Samsung Galaxy S6 Not Completely Charging Issue & Other Related Problems

The #Samsung #Galaxy #S6 is one of the older generation flagship models that is still popular among consumers today. First released in 2015 with high end specs, this model serves as the template for the future flagship designs of the company. Prior to this model the flagship devices of the company were mostly made of plastic which didn’t have a premium feel to it. The S6 with its mostly glass and metal construction changed this. Although this is a solid phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S6 not completely charging issue & other related problems.

S6 Not Completely Charging

Problem: Greetings, I have a Samsung Galaxy S6. The phone will no longer charge completely, nor will it express charge. I have purchased a new charger from Samsung, and tried cleaning the charging port with a small brush and it still takes 4 or 5 hours to charge, and the charge only lasts for about 2 hours at the most. Is it worth investing the money to have it repaired, or should I just buy a new phone?

Solution: It’s good that you cleaned the charging port of the phone as sometimes dirt or debris stuck in there can cause charging issues. Since the issue still persist then you should perform the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Try using a different charging cord. This allows you to check if you have a faulty cord that is causing the problem.
  • Try using a different wall charger. Make sure it has an output rating of at least 2A.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

In case the issue still occurs even after performing the steps listed above then this might already be caused by a faulty battery. You can have the battery replaced at a service center.

In case the problem still persists even after replacing the battery then you should consider getting a new phone instead of having this device serviced.

S6 Turns Off On Its Own

Problem: Hi. Hope you could help me solve my problem thank you. My phone works fine when in use but i notice that every time I will not use it for some time and check it after, the phone is already off this happens often especially if i don’t use it for an hour. . I don’t think software could be the problem because i already reset the phone. The battery level is good when i leave It. Do you think this is a battery issue? Cause the battery is not that flat anymore and slightly heats up when i charge it while using it. I hope you can address this issue. Thank you

Solution: If you have already performed a factory reset and the issue still persists then this could either be caused by a faulty battery or faulty power IC. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked so that the exact component that is not working properly can be determined.

S6 Has No Audio

Problem: My S6 (Android Ver 6.0.1) phone function has no audio though it works through the bluetooth in my car.  I’ve reinstalled the sim card, cleared the cache partition (I DO NOT wish to do a factory reset) and done generally everything the internet has told me to do in all the settings menus available to me.  Help!

Solution: Have you tried checking the volume setting of the phone and made sure that it is set to the maximum level? If you already have and the issue still remains then try starting the phone in Safe Mode. When the phone operates in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. If the issue does not occur while the phone is running in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then you should consider doing a factory reset. Since this will erase all your phone data make sure to make a backup copy first before proceeding with the reset.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be a hardware related problem.

S6 Not Charging After Getting Wet

Problem: Hi, i dropped my phone in water a few weeks ago, and it wouldn’t charge unless it was on a specific charger, then it started not charging at all. i left it in rice for a whole 24 hours, and it started charging again. it only charges in one position. yesterday night, tried charging it, it wouldnt charge. i thought it was my charger, so i put it on a different charger and it still wouldn’t work. it’s been dead for about 15 hours, and it wont charge on any charger. i’ve tried everything, and it still wont charge, what do i do? anything will help, thanks.

Solution: Since you have already placed the phone in a bag of rice and the issue still persists then you will need to proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debri stuck in this port is removed.
  • Try charging the phone using a different charging cord.
  • Try using a different wall charger when charging the phone.
  • Check if the phone charges from a computer USB port.

In case the phone doesn’t charge or turn on then it’s likely that the phone is water damaged. You will need to have this checked at a service center.

S6 Stuck In Software Update Loop

Problem: I’ve just attempted to install a new update onto my Galaxy S6 and it seems to be going fine until it reaches 32% then it turns off, reboots back to the samsung loading page then attempts to reinstall. I’ve tried plugging it in to charge it, tried turning it off using the power button and my pc cant detect it when i plug it in. Any ideas on how to stop it cycling?

Solution: You should try starting the phone in recovery mode then from here wipe the cache partition of the device. Restart your phone after this then check if the phone boots normally. If it does then proceed with updating the phone again. If the issue persists then you will have to start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. After the reset you will have to perform the software update again.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Will Not Turn On

Problem: My phone wont turn on, i have plugged it in to charge and its only showing the white lightning bolt for hours on end. I have tried numerous chargers and cables and still nothing works. I have tried rebooting and restarting it and still nothing.

Related Problem: I activated the ultra saving power mode on maximum and my screen went black. It’s been a day already and my screen is still pitch black. I can’t do a soft reset because the battery is non-removable and I can’t do a factory reset either because I can’t see anything on my completely blacked out screen.

Solution: Try performing a simulated battery pull first by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this. If it doesn’t then try charging the phone first for at least 20 minutes before turning it on.

If the phone doesn’t charge then perform the steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air.
  • Charge the phone using a different charging cord and wall charger.
  • Check if the phone can charge from a computer USB port.
  • Turn on the phone.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
