S6 Installation Of Update Fails Issue
Problem: My S6 is stuck on 5.1.1 and an installation update keeps crashing. I have done the cache wipe, factory reset and still nothing. The update downloads but installation fails at about 32% complete.
Security Patch 2016-02-01
Build # LMY47XG920AUCU3BOJ9
This is a brand new phone for AT&T network out of the box.
Solution: Normally, you should be able to install the update after doing a factory reset if it downloaded successfully. Since it still fails to install then you should try to use Smart Switch to install the update. To do this you have to install the latest version of Smart Switch in your computer. Connect your phone to the computer using a USB cord and you will be prompted to update your device. Just follow the instructions on the screen to perform the update.
In case the above steps fails then you will have to flash the updated firmware file to your device. You can get the firmware file as well the instructions on how to flash your phone at the Sammobile website.
S6 Not Able To Update Phone Software
Problem: Hi, I’m not able to update the android version via OTA or even KIES. I intend to update it to the latest version 7.0 or 6.0.1. Appreciate if you could assist me, thank you. Regards
Solution: This is similar to the issue which we have addressed above. What you will want to do first is to backup your phone data. Once this is done start the phone in recovery mode then wipe the cache partition of the device. Follow this up by doing a factory reset. As soon as this is done try updating your phone software.
In case you are not able to update the software then you phone might not meet the several requirements needed to get the update which are as follows.
- Your phone must not be rooted.
- Your phone must not be running on a custom software.
- If you had your phone unlocked then it should be running on its original network in order for it to access the update servers.
The best way to update the phone right now is to flash the phone with its updated firmware file. You can get the firmware file of your phone from the Sammobile website. You can also get the instructions on how to flash your phone from this website.
S6 Netflix App Not Working After Latest Software Update
Problem: I have has the S6 for over 1 year. I use netflix a lot on my android phone. Approximately 1 month ago Netflix wasn’t working, I rang them they told me to force close which I did and it started to work again. This week I updated my phone to the new OS and its stopped Netflix working. I contacted them and nothing has fixed the issue, they have said it’s only the S6 that has this issue and the comments on google play reflect that statement. Could you please either tell me how to restore my S6 to the previous OS, or can you tell me how I can get Netflix working again! Unfortunately I can’t take my smart TV away with me when I travel so I need netflix on my phone.
Solution: Since a lot of S6 owners are having this very same issue after they updated the phone software then it’s very likely that the Netflix app is having compatibility issues with the update. The app developer should update the Netflix app to work better with this update.
If you can’t wait for this update to arrive then your other option is to downgrade the phone software to a previous version which I don’t recommend since it is a long process. You will have to manually flash the previous firmware file to your phone. You can get the old firmware file from the Sammobile website if you want to go this route. Instructions on how to flash your phone are also provided in that website.
S6 Apps Keep Crashing
Problem: Frequently my apps will keep crashing repeatedly as I try to open them and my screen keeps quitting all processes to return to the home screen. I have tried resetting, turning off the device for 10-15 minutes, restoring to factory mode, everything. It’s almost as if the “Back” button is being pressed constantly without my touching it.
Solution: Since you already performed a factory reset which does not fix the problem then it looks like this is already caused by a faulty hardware component. The best way to proceed in this case is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S6 Screen Has Green Tint With Flickering White Lines
Problem: Hi. I took my phone off the charger and the screen now has a green tint to it and several white lines are constantly flickering. It has not been wet at all. I have rebooted it several times as well and that has not helped. Please help!
Solution: The first thing that you will want to do in this case is to check if an app you installed is causing this problem. To do this you need to start the phone in Safe Mode. When the phone operates in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are prevented from running. This makes it easy to isolate any app related problem. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
In case the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then the next step is to check if a system glitch is causing the problem. You will need to backup your phone data and then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete check if the issue still occurs.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this could already be caused by a faulty hardware component possibly the display going bad. You will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.
S6 Is Hot Buttons Not Working After Getting Wet
Problem: Hello My samsung s6 got wet in heavy rain fall. Now it’s getting hot from power button portion. And the touch buttons are not working neither they are putting up on light on touching them.. are they replaceable or repairable?
Solution: Because your phone got wet what you will want to do right now is to make sure that it is dry. Wipe the external part of the phone using a dry cloth. Once there is no more visible liquid you will have to place the phone in a bag of rice for at least 48 hours. The rice will absorb the moisture inside the phone.
After 48 hours have passed check if the issues still occur. If it does then the phone might be suffering from water damage. You will need to bring this to a service center and have it checked.
S6 Sound Gets Muffled
Problem: Every few minutes my sound gets muffled, then after about 10-30 seconds it will go back to normal, bit the more it happens, the more often is starts to happen, and it does it with wired headphones plugged in, wireless headphones, and any Bluetooth device and it is very annoying. And I can’t find anything on the internet on how to solve it
Solution: What you will want to do first right now is to check if an app you installed is causing the problem. To do this you need to start your phone in Safe Mode. Check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
In case the issue occurs even in Safe Mode then I suggest you proceed with a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone but instead try to check first if the problem still occurs.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
