S6 Edge Won’t Charge
Problem: My daughter S6 Edge once plugged in will not charge. It’s completely dead. Once you plug in the USB factory charger the charging icon shows as if it will charge, but it doesn’t start charging nor does the red light indicator in the top left show. Can this be fixed?
Related Problem: Hello I’ll give as many details as I can. I’ve had my galaxy s6 edge for about 2 years. I lost it a while back and recently found it. It was functional until I had lost and relocated it, it was under my couch. Currently, it won’t charge and I looked at the different cases of how to fix this. So far i’ve only been able to pull up the download new OS screen. The phone used to say it was at 100? when I first found it and would have a green light. Now I’m charging it in my car and it has a red light. I realize I need the original charger and I have one, I’ll test run it when I get home but i’ve tried that in the past and again, it would have a green light and 100? battery icon. The phone will start to power on, shows the Samsung galaxy icon then powers off. I tried booting in safe mode but it wouldn’t allow it, as in it powers off before it happens currently, in the car it’s showing a battery icon with no light. I’ll message you again, when I get home with the original charger. If we can respond to one another via email that will be convenient. I’m not certain what is update it has. Should be marshmallow or the following, or previous.
Related Problem: My husband’s s6 edge won’t charge. It shows the icon that it should be charging but stays at 0% if you unplug it it turns off. If you aren’t using a fast charger then it wont even turn on. Help!
Solution: Listed below are the troubleshooting steps that you will need to perform for this particular problem.
- Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in this port is removed.
- Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes.
- If the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger.
- Check if the phone can charge from a computer USB port. If it charges this way then one of the pins of the charging port might be damaged. You need to have this checked at a service center.
- Try wirelessly charging the phone. If it charges this way then the charging port of the phone might be damaged. You will need to have this checked and replaced at a service center.
In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be a hardware related issue.
S6 Edge Cannot Make Calls
Problem: Hello, since some months I have strange issues with my S6 Edge (Android 7.0). Suddenly I cannot make any voice calls (the call drops before start dialing) and also cannot receive (the 3rd party hear that the mobile is not available). What is strange is that I can receive and send SMS and even data is working fine. I have noticed that this is happening frequently when travelling. Let’s say, my phone is working, then I drive 100 km and after that it is not anymore. Rebooting, reattaching to the network does not help. The only thing that work is to remove the SIM, put it in another phone, make a voice call and then put it back in the S6 edge. But as you can understand it is not always feasible to have 2 mobile phones with you. When using the SIM in another phone (Sony Xperia M4 Aqua -Android 6) this problem does not appear, so it must be something with the Samsung. I have no clue anymore, I hope you can help.
Solution: Since the issue does not occur when you place the SIM in another phone then it’s safe to eliminate the SIM and network as a possible cause to the problem. What we will do right now is to troubleshoot the phone by following the steps listed below.
- Start the phone in Safe Mode. When the phone operates in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are prevented from running. Check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Try clearing the cache and data of the phone app from the application manager then check if the issue still occurs.
- Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S6 Edge Randomly Shutting Down
Problem: My S6 Edge has been randomly shutting down without warning for a few weeks. I performed a cache wipe and it resolved the problem for a few days. I also uninstalled a few newer apps, thinking they may be contributing to the issue. A few days ago the random shut downs continued, but not as frequent. This morning, after a full battery charge overnight, the phone was working fine. Shut down during use of an app. It started back up. Then shut down again. I again tried to start it, but it would only show the Samsung S6 screen, then nothing. Attempted to try to go back in to wipe the cache again, but it now does not even show the S6 screen. It has a blue/aqua light on steady, but that is the only sign of life. Battery was approximately 86%. Does not respond to power button.
Solution: The first thing that you should do in this case is to perform a simulated battery pull. This is done by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this. In case the issue persists then you will need to start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.
Should the above steps fail to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S6 Edge Stuck In Boot Logo
Problem: Hi 3 Days Ago my phone worked just fine in The morning.. It was Fully charged when I put it in The charger in The car ( didn’t wanted it to use too Much power when I used The gps) I had to leave The car for a bit and when I came back The Phone’s background Was Black and red (Black but with Some red in it) and There was a Big charger logo in The middle… I couldn’t do anything… when I came Home I tried to reboot by pushing The power Button and The volume button and The it restarted on The logo page.. but nothing Else Happens.. Today I have read your page and tried everything and still The same page and nothing more.. I can’t turn The phone off or anything. I Really Hope that You Can Help me. Its a Samsung Galaxy s6 edge and it is 2 years Old
Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset from here. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data. In case this fails to fix the problem then this might already be caused by an internal component that is failing to work. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S6 Edge Notifications Missing
Problem: Hey I have a samsung s6 edge. Today i woke up to find that i lost the notifications bar at the locked screen as well as any other screen. I can’t access any of my notifications whatsoever i can’t even tell if i have any notification!! Also, the multitask/ recent app button is not working, it lits up on pressing it but does nothing! i read that i can see whether they are working in the safe mode so pressed my power button but i was surprised to see that i also lost the safe mode and emergency mode buttons! i only have restart and power off buttons. PLEASE HELP ME!
Solution: Try restarting the phone first as this usually fixes issues such as this. If the problem persists even after a restart then I suggest that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
