The #Samsung #Galaxy #S6Edge has one feature that makes it different from the regular S6 model and that is its use of a larger 5.5 inch Super AMOLED display that curves on both of its sides. While this might seem like the curve is only placed for aesthetic purposes it actually gives a better grip to the phone. The edge part of the display is also used as a notification center for some apps. Although this is a solid phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S6 Edge turns off then gets stuck in Samsung logo screen issue & other related problems.

S6 Edge Turns Off Then Gets Stuck In Samsung Logo
Problem: I have been using a Samsung S6 edge(SM-G925F), running on latest Android 7 for past year and a half now, and 2 days back all of a sudden the phone just went off and then this problem started. I am not sure what happened, I was on my way back from office and I was listening to music on this phone. And when i reached my home I took the phone out of my pocket, kept it aside on my room, and after just 5 minutes i was trying to check the phone and the phone was switched off. I just pressed the home button once and the phone just tried to switch on (I didn’t even press the power button). And from that point on the phone never switched on properly. Now upon pressing the power button, the boot screen pops up as Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and then no response, if we wait for some time then the phone just try to reboot but never crosses this boot screen. and sometimes it even goes on and on . I tried to hard reset the phone by pressing volume up + menu + power key, but it never goes to recovery mode. But if you try by pressing volume down + power key, the phone goes for firmware download page without any errors. Tries updating the phone using ODIN and latest firmware, the firmware gets installed as per ODIN and goes for booting, but the phone does not boot up. i will just go till Samsung logo page and stays there. Upon close inspection of the start screen of the phone i can find that the samsung S6 Edge logo screen also have some red pixel on the black area of the screen, which you could not seen on a bright environment, but if you keep the phone on a dark room, this dots can be seen, But when you go for firmware download screen, this does not show. Please help me out on this. I know you guys must be getting thousands of email requesting you for help. Please do help me out with this mail.
Solution: It appears that the phone is suffering from two separate issue. The minor of this is the display which has some red pixels. Since you have already flashed the phone and the red pixels are still present then this is most likely caused by a faulty display which can only be fixed by replacing the display assembly with a new one.
The seconds more serious issue is the phone only starting up to the Samsung logo screen. Again, since you have already flashed the phone software which doesn’t fix the problem then this also appears to be caused by a faulty hardware component. It could be the battery or the power IC which can be causing this problem. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S6 Edge Not Charging Stuck In Download Mode
Problem: Hi my samsung galaxy s6 edge which is about 1.5 year old. I have problem, because I had about 3% of battery and i wanted to charge it but when I pluged it in it turned off so I turned it on and the blue screen showed up and it said DOWNLOADING PLEASE DO NOT TURN OFF THE TARGET. And now it wont charge at all. I have it on charger about 1 hour but I’ve got only 9% of battery and when I turned on the phone it get battery to 0% in about 2 min. Please help me I am desperate
Solution: What you will want to do right now is to make sure that the phone charges by following the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in the port.
- Perform a simulated battery pull. This is done by pressing and holding both power and volume down button for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this.
- Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes.
- If the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger.
- You should also try charging the phone from a computer USB port.
If the above steps doesn’t fix the problem then this might already be caused by a faulty battery. You will then need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S6 Edge Does Not Charge
Problem: Good day, I have had my Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge for over 18 months now. Just this weekend I started to see charging issues occurring on my phone.
- On Friday the charge by USB wall connection was very slow (giving me indication of a complete charge from at 35% battery would be 6.5 hours, slower than normal. But charging by external battery seemed to charge it normally. I tried 3 different USB charging cables and all had the same result. I rebooted my phone multiple times but no positive results.
- On Saturday, the wall USB charger did not actually charge the phone (even though the charging icon was in the battery icon), When I connected the wall charger to the phone it showed a charge time of 6.5 hours but instead my battery was slowly dissipating. Yesterday, my external battery was not even charging my phone and would turn itself off as if there was a 100% charge on it (external battery is fully charged). The charge time on my phone read 1 hr 40 mins to complete charge. Instead it remained at 39% the entire time. When I unplugged my external battery, the remaining battery capacity dropped to 10%.
- Today, I cannot use either wall charger or external battery as my phone shut down and it constantly says 1% if either are hooked up to it. As I unplugged my phone it completely died and now I have the lightning bolt charging symbol when shutdown with zero battery capacity symbol not appearing at all.
I saw on your website (and others) that doing a factory reset on the phone will actually repair the battery charging issue. Unfortunately I cannot turn on my phone at all due to lack of battery life to try to factory reset it. Do you have any suggestions on this matter? I am totally stuck here and currently deployed overseas without a working phone. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Related Problem: my Samsung s6 edge got overheated and battery drained overnight. in the morning when I woke up , I put my phone on charge but it wasn’t charging, I thought maybe the pin got damaged or the cable isn’t working so I tried to charge it with with different cables and also through wireless charger but nothing worked.
after that I tried to reboot the system by pressing the volume up , lock button and home button but more than 15 seconds but nothing working , I tried again with volume down, lock button and home button but again nothing work. can you help me or guide me what should I do?
Solution: It looks like the phone battery might already be faulty. The best thing that you can do right now is to clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Once this is done try charging the phone again. If it doesn’t charge then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S6 Edge Constant Boot Loop
Problem: This happened for no obvious reason one day. I used the phone as usual during the day. I don’t remember installing anything or doing anything odd with it and then at night when I went to look at it, it was dead (which seemed odd). I plugged it up to charge and it started boot looping. I thought maybe the battery was just dead so I left it charging all night hoping it would be better in the morning. In the morning it was REALLY hot and still boot looping. I unplugged it and let it cool down. Now it’s in perpetual boot loop. I tried all the suggestions on your web page and none of the power/volume/home button combinations will get me to Safe Mode. Any more suggestions?
Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data. In case you are unable to access the recovery mode or if the issue still remains even after performing a factory reset then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S6 Edge Stuck In Boot Loop After Installing Custom ROM
Problem: Hello! Yesterday I decided I wanted to root my S6 Edge phone (SM-G925F, International Version) and flash a custom ROM onto it. I managed to root it successfully and install a working version of TWRP. I began installing the XtreStoLite Custom ROM onto my S6 edge. Around the 10% mark of installation, my phone suddenly booted. I read online that I should boot back normally and install an app which reduces my CPU power or something like that, can’t really remember. But when I tried to boot back normally, it was stuck in a boot loop with only the Samsung S6 Edge logo appearing. During installing TWRP I bricked my phone a couple of times because I installed wrong versions of TWRP. I flashed a stock firmware a few times to get rid of the brick (a similar boot loop), which worked every time like a charm. So I figured that with this “Custom ROM bootloop”, I can just flash the stock firmware, boot everything back and try again. But after flashing the previously so glamorously working stock FW, I was stuck in a bootloop way worse than before. This time the phone starts, I get the S6 edge logo, I get a “installing software update” screen for about a millisecond and then a “no command” screen. After the latter, it repeats. Once repeated for – I don’t know – a 1000 times, it boots into stock recovery. I tried factory resetting, which only gets rid of “software update” and “no command” screens. The bootloop stays. What do you suggest I do?
Solution: Try wiping the cache partition of your phone first then do a factory reset from the recovery mode. If the boot loop issue still occurs then try flashing the phone again with its stock firmware file. Should the issue persist then you need to bring this phone to a service center and have it checked.
