S6 Edge Randomly Shuts Down After Software Update
Problem: Hi, I recently did a software update on my S6 edge and it just randomly shuts down now. I’ve never had any issues with my phone since I’ve got it like 18 months now. I also did a factory reset on the device but still it shuts down. I find that the phone will only work if it’s connected to a charger. Please help.
Solution: If you have already performed a factory reset and the issue still persists then this could already be caused by a faulty hardware component in the phone. You mentioned that if you connect the phone to a charger then the phone will not randomly shut down. This means that the problem could be caused by a faulty battery or faulty power IC. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center then have it checked.
S6 Edge Gear VR Not Charging
Problem: Hello – I recently purchased a Samsung Gear VR (2016), and a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. The phone fits fine into the Gear VR, however when I try plugging the S6 edge charger into the Gear VR, the charger does not fit in the port. I’ve tried doing some research, but I’m not sure if I was supposed to purchase an adapter with the phone or Gear VR. Can you lead me to whatever I need, the adapter, converter, a new charger, so that I am able to charge my S6 Edge when it’s in the Gear VR? Thank you for your help!
Solution:The Gear VR (2016) does not require any charging as it relies on your phone’s battery to work. You can however connect a Samsung charger to the Gear VR. A Samsung charging cord is all that is needed to charge the Gear VR. If your charger cord does not fit then try to check if you have inserted it the wrong way. You should also try using a different charging cord.
In case no charging cord fits then you need to bring this back to the store where you purchased it and have it checked and possibly replaced.
S6 Edge Battery Drains Quickly After Software Update
Problem: Since receiving an update in late August, the battery drains very quickly. For example, I generally charge the phone overnight and, without using the phone at all, by 11am, it will be at 60%. I’ve tried a factory reset but that hasn’t fixed the problem.
Solution: If a factory reset doesn’t fix the problem then this might already be caused by a faulty battery. You will need to have the battery of your phone checked at a service center.
S6 Edge Replacement Battery Drains Quickly
Problem: my s6 edge’s battery was down that’s why I change my battery..after changing my battery it seems that my phone is overheating..and charge down faster than the original one.. what. can I do now?
Solution: If you got a replacement battery that is not made by Samsung then it’s very likely that it will not be of high quality and it will not retain its charge just like the original battery. You will usually notice that a third party battery will drain much quicker than an original Samsung battery.
In case you got an original Samsung battery and the issue occurs then you should perform the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Start the phone in Safe Mode. Check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you installed. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S6 Edge Won’t Charge
Problem: My s6 edge won’t charge and when I try holding the down volume and power key the phone won’t turn on, it just flashed the battery with the lightning bolt. After holding just the power button for a long time the phone turns on but dies shortly after. I don’t really want to have to hard reset but I’m not sure what other options there are, please help.
Solution: What you will want to do right now is to first charge the phone. Follow the steps listed below when charging the phone.
- Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port as this could cause charging problems.
- Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using its wall charger.
- If the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also check if the phone can charge from a computer USB port.
- Turn on the phone.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then the best thing to do is to have this checked at a service center.
Problem: I have a Galaxy S6 Edge phone and the lights on the bottom keeps blinking. It doesn’t allow me to scroll down on my phone or slide over cause it opens the wrong apps. Also when texting or messaging it gives me # signs instead of letters.
Solution: What you will want to do right now is to check first if the problem is caused by a software glitch. To do this you need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete immediately check if the issue still occurs. If it does then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be a hardware related problem.
S6 Edge Cannot Turn On Wi-Fi
Problem: Hello Android guy, I cannot turn on WiFi on my Samsung Galaxy s6 edge even after hard reset. Any help to fix this is welcome. Thanks.
Solution: Unfortunately this is most likely caused by a faulty Wi-Fi chip. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
